The Web Developer plays a key role in creating, delivering, and maintaining the College’s website and student information system, and other web/digital platforms, including responsive/mobile content; security; functionality; integration; and technical implementation. This role is a full-stack role with both server and client-side responsibilities. The Web Developer serves as a key member of a productive creative team, helping to provide College audiences with a range of rich digital experiences, and works to maintain full Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance under WCAG Version 2.2, level AA.
Front End Production
- Helps to develop, optimize, and maintain key College websites and digital properties.
- Works with members of the Marketing & Communication team to propose, develop, and deliver digital solutions intended to help key audiences engage with the College.
- Assists Web Coordinator and Designer in updating graphics and text on existing websites and HTML email message templates.
- Performs tasks related to solution creation, identification, and documentation, as directed. Collaborates with a team on content experts, writers, and designers.
- Identifies emerging front-end web technologies and explores their use in digital properties.
- Contributes to ongoing evaluation of digital tools, including CMS, online forms, bulk email delivery, site analytic tools, etc.
- Develops web applications to extract curriculum information for display on the website.
- Researches and implements technical SEO best practices.
- Incorporates data from back-end services, databases, and third-party APIs, to extend the capability of third-party software.
- Develops templates and tools to facilitate College processes, including interactive and data-base driven content.
- Identifies and helps implement integration of the CMS and web content to key business systems, such as marking analytics or customer relationship management systems, to optimize the user experience and drive marketing goals.
- Maintains documentation to allow colleagues to track and build upon work. Keeps accurate records.
- Writes and creates ADA-accessible code and forms, and fixes ADA violations, as specified by WCAG Version 2.2, Level AA for use in Workday, the College’s website, and other web and digital platforms.
- Prepares for new student information system, Workday.
- Integrates Workday information with the College’s public-facing website.
User Experience
- Researches, reports on, and employs best practices in interactivity and content delivery.
- Works with the Web Coordinator to implement, track, and act on intel gleaned from site analytics.
- Evaluates and remediates web pages and properties to conform with the ADA.
- Monitors website performance and loading speed.
- Ensures sites are responsive across browsers and devices, with good SEO practices.
- Maintains and upgrades implementation of Google Analytics.
- Works closely with copywriters, designers, and other staff in a collaborative manner.
- Serves as the technical liaison between the Web and Digital team and IT to ensure the College’s Web properties are optimized, supported, and secured to ensure the best possible user experience.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Attends all required department meetings and training.
- Serves on cross-College committees for special projects.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associate’s degree in web development, computer science, or related field.
- Three (3) years of web development experience.
- * An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.
