Join a creative, collaborative team dedicated to shaping the digital experience in higher education! As Brightpoint’s Web Developer, you will blend full-stack development, user experience (UX), and modern design to build meaningful digital connections.
As part of the Creative Services team, you’ll work closely with colleagues, faculty, and staff from across the college to deliver high-quality, inclusive digital experiences for our diverse community—particularly through www.brightpoint.edu. You’ll also partner with the Office of Information Technology ( OIT) on development operations (DevOps) and custom applications—all in support of our shared mission to create a success story for every student. This position offers a unique, impactful opportunity to craft and maintain a wide range of user-friendly, beautiful, dynamic, and fully accessible websites and digital applications.
Location Based at our Midlothian Campus with hybrid telework options available.
Core Responsibilities

Web Development & Maintenance: Build, update, and maintain dynamic, interactive, and responsive websites and digital tools that bring our campus stories to life.

Accessibility Compliance: Ensure all digital assets are welcoming and fully accessible to everyone across modern browsers and platforms, strictly adhering to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with our Content Strategist and Creative Services team to beautifully align web design with institutional branding and creative content strategy.

IT & DevOps Integration: Collaborate with the programmer in OIT to support smooth development operations, system integrations, and custom applications that keep our campus running seamlessly.

Campus Engagement: Work directly with faculty and staff across various departments, translating academic and administrative needs into effective, user-friendly web solutions.

Data & Analytics: Use tools like Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and SiteImprove to discover trends, champion continuous improvement, and identify new opportunities.

API & Salesforce Integrations: Support, maintain, and enhance application programming interfaces (APIs), Salesforce integrations, and related data exchanges that connect college systems and improve business processes.

College Dashboards & Reporting: Partner with college stakeholders to support dashboards, reporting tools, and data-informed digital solutions that help departments monitor operations, services, and student success initiatives.

LLM-Enabled Applications & Integrations: Use large language models (LLMs) and other emerging AI tools to support custom college applications, automate routine workflows, and improve integrations across web, data, and enterprise platforms.

Project Management: Proactively identify needs, work with relevant areas on a solution, and ensure projects are created on time and on budget.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
REQUIRED

Experience & Foundation: Proven work experience developing and maintaining professional, interactive websites and digital applications.

Core Web Concepts: A strong understanding of web development, user experience (UX), design fundamentals, and content management systems ( CMS).

Technical Proficiency:
- Strong coding skills in HTML, CSS (including frameworks like Bootstrap), and JavaScript.
- Experience with MySQL and database management.
- Familiarity with development tools: yarn/npm package managers, code editors (such as VS Code), and version control (Git/GitHub).
- Experience working with SharePoint site design and integrating AI tools (like Claude) into development workflows.
- Familiarity with APIs, Salesforce integrations, dashboard support, and the practical use of LLMs or AI-assisted tools in application development and workflow automation.

Professional Skills: Outstanding communication, project management, time management, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, customer-service driven, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Additional Considerations
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with ExpressionEngine CMS and PHP
- Experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx).
- Familiarity with build tools and runtimes like Gulp and Node.js.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker).
- Proficiency in digital analytics and optimization tools, specifically Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and accessibility platforms like Siteimprove.
