The Web Content Specialist will be responsible for supporting content contributors across the university. Specialists will work with various contributors to ensure engaging content within the Rowan University brand guidelines, and to offer support with creating content within the university’s content management system. The position works under the guidance of the Lead Web Content Strategist and reports to the Director of Web Strategy and Development for the Rowan University Web Services team. Essential Position Responsibilities/Functions
- Assist the Lead Web Content Strategist in planning and creating engaging content for all Rowan University web properties, and support internal and external stakeholders to identify web content objectives.
- Work with internal Subject Matter Experts to create high-quality content that builds Rowan University’s reputation as an authoritative source.
- Collaborate with the content team in researching page content models, site maps, user journeys, and user stories.
- Participate in accessibility committees and verify content meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Utilize Cascade workflows to review submissions from content contributors and propose changes, ensuring adherence to Rowan University’s tone and voice and other brand standards.
- Assist the content team with synchronous and asynchronous training and documentation on writing for the web, search engine optimization (SEO), web accessibility, content governance, and Rowan University brand standards.
- Use accessibility, usability, and SEO monitoring tools to audit content and remediate as necessary.
- Identify and triage user support requests for content assistance and Cascade contributor access, and escalate issues to the Lead Web Content Strategist as needed.
- Gather information regarding Cascade contributor feedback and troubleshooting, and provide recommendations to the Lead Web Content Strategist and Web Product Manager to inform web development decisions.
- Conduct preliminary quality assurance and testing of new and existing content modules for the development team.
- Coordinate with teams across Marketing & Communication to generate content for landing pages, campaign sites, and organic and paid search.
