Job Description

SGI Global LLC is seeking fluent English speaking a Weapons Program Advisor to support the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), which requires professional and administrative support services to work with the U.S. Foreign Assistance Program to Mexico.

Qualifications:

  • Mexican Citizen or Third Country National.
  • Spanish FSI level 4.
  • English FSI level 4.
  • Bachelor's degree in law, criminal justice, law enforcement, social sciences or related field; or five (5) years of related experience in law enforcement, international development, international affairs, or public administration.
  • A combination of ten (10) years of experience in progressive professional experience in GOM criminal justice, investigations, or a related field with experience in counter-trafficking or counter-organized crime programs preferred.
  • Ability to pass a U.S. Embassy RSO security background check.
  • Ability to deal effectively with senior U.S. and GOM officials.
  • Experience in drafting various types of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills and ability to make reasoned arguments and recommendations to supervisors and high-ranking U.S. and Mexican government officials.
  • Proactive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Proven organizational skills and teamwork.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, be flexible, accept feedback.
  • At least two (2) years of project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.

Duties:

  • The position is located in Mexico City, Mexico. Travel to other locations in Mexico, the United States, and other countries may be required.
  • Assesses anti-weapons smuggling program's partner capabilities based on strategies; plans and monitors projects to implement appropriate counter-smuggling models.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to INL and GOM counterparts in counter weapons-smuggling and other criminal justice investigations, training, and related administrative processes, drawing on specialized experience.
  • Identifies and prioritizes any needs (training, equipment, certification, and other technical assistance) of partner agencies and GOM counterpart organizations that will address deficiencies in the state and federal investigations and enforcement of counter-weapons smuggling laws.
  • Working under weapons program leadership, develops and supports design and implementation of counter-weapons smuggling projects that address previously identified needs and works with various implementing partners and GOM counterparts to ensure project implementation is impactful.
  • Provides concrete guidance and drafts highly technical policies and procedures to be implemented through CP programing.
  • Liaises with U.S. Government inter-agency colleagues, international organizations, and foreign governments outside of Mexico to ensure programming is coordinated.
