
Note: This role can be a Executive Director(Band4) or Managing Director level, depending on the final candidate's experiences and skills.
WRB lending credit risk overall management, approval criteria and portfolio management criteria establishment and operation, IFRS provision and ME/BWC delinquency account/charged-off account management.
As second line of defense responsibilities
• Duly discharging responsibilities as the overall second line of defense related to risk management in WRB, which involves oversight and challenge of risk management actions from the First Line.
• Setting (or proposing) the Retail risk-type framework, Retail risk appetite, policies, and control standards.
• Making decisions within delegated authorities and maintaining necessary expertise to manage such risks.
• Establishing effective assurance and reporting mechanisms; and
• Design and effectiveness of the risk controls, monitoring of compliance to the Retail risk appetite (local Board-approved or cascaded by Group) and effectiveness of risk controls; and escalate material exceptions to appropriate management and risk committees.
Governance framework: responsible for building a culture of good conduct.
Responsibility for retail lending decisions
• Responsible for final credit decisions for retail lending facilities.
• Completeness and accuracy of the client credit application and capture of critical information required for credit risk measurement and credit analysis
Strategy
• Inform the development of business plans with the provision of cost and impairment forecasts and a balanced judgement on the external environment.
• Contribute to the development of performance management and remuneration processes, in order to encourage the development of an appropriate risk culture and discipline.
Business
• Communicate the strategic intent and collective agenda for the WRB Risk Function
• Maintain and development risk capabilities and skills to meet ongoing business needs and plans
Processes
• Supervise all processes where a member of the WRB Risk Function is the identified first line process owner
• Ensure effective management of operational risks within the WRB Risk Function and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations
• Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of risk management processes
Risk Management
• Assess the credit risk profile of the WRB business and maintain alignment with risk appetite by rebalancing of risks or controls that may be required in response to internal and external factors
• Initiate stress tests as required by internal and external factor and review results and assess their implications
• Ensure that effective management response plans are in place to respond to extreme but plausible scenarios
• Uphold the integrity of risk/return decisions, by challenging business and control function heads to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with strategy and risk appetite
• Design, maintain and effectively communicate risk control parameters across the WRB business, including policies, control standards, risk exposure limits and other control levers in order to maintain the business' risk profile in line with the Group's risk appetite
• Obtain assurance regarding the effectiveness of credit controls and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Ensure business and product heads understand and accept their credit risk management responsibilities
• Responsibility as 2nd line to oversight collection and recovering amounts owed to a firm by its customers/dealing with customers in arrears
• Solid track record in credit analysis, credit approval or related functions within the financial industry.
• Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, financial statement analysis, and industry-specific risk factors.
• Proven ability to make sound credit decisions based on both quantitative and qualitative factors.
• High level of integrity and professional judgement
• University Graduate or relevant Professional Qualifications (banking/financial service)
• Bank training; Completion of bank mandatory trainings for Certified Person and trainings under Retail Risk curriculum
• Languages: English, Korean is preferred
