IFC’s Advisory Services in Public Private Partnerships (C3P) is focused on assisting governments to develop and bring to market public-private partnerships primarily in the infrastructure and social sectors. In Brazil, C3P has – among other initiatives - a partnership with the Brazilian Development Bank (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social – BNDES) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) called the Private Sector Partnership Program (or PSP Program) to jointly develop such projects. C3P is seeking to recruit an Explorer1, to be based in São Paulo, and who will report to the head of the PSP Program.
Duties and Accountabilities:
• The Explorer will work closely with team leaders as part of the project team to assist in the origination, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and bidding of infrastructure projects.
• The Explorer will work with national, state and local level governments in Brazil and in the LAC Region in identifying and developing PPP transactions for infrastructure projects.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
• Contribute to origination and marketing activities including preparation of pitch books, market analysis, project assessments and proposals;
• Prepare memos and documentation for internal approval and consultant procurement processes;
• Support with financial analysis and modeling;
• Assist in project management, coordination with transaction lawyers and technical consultants;
• Preparation of due diligence and transaction structuring reports, and review of legal, commercial, and technical outputs and documentation;
• Assist in preparation of information memorandums and tender documentation;
• Assist in marketing to potential investors, conducting international competitive tenders and commercial/financial closure;
• Participate in meetings with government clients and investors; and
• Assist in other project or strategy related activities as the need may arise (research, reporting, Explorer).
Selection Criteria
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, public policy, business, international affairs, or a related field. 0–3 years of work experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with the social and economic challenges of Brazil.
• Proficiency in English and Portuguese (written and verbal).
• Strategic thinking combined with thorough attention to detail and a focus on the quality of deliverables.
• Analytical and quantitative skills in economics and/or private sector development work, including macroeconomic, industry, and financial analysis.
• Team player with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to execute tasks timely and work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment.
• Proven writing and editing skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a creative and clear style.
• Self-driven individual with a positive attitude, strong intellectual curiosity, innovation mindset, and sense of urgency.
• Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure, and handle multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with data analysis, AI, and presentation tools.
• International mobility without restrictions.
