Job Description

The Waterjet Operator sets up and operates waterjet equipment within the Fabrication Department. This role is responsible for producing precision parts by applying knowledge of machining processes, mathematics, and material properties while ensuring adherence to strict tolerances and quality standards.

Location: Orrville, OH (On‑site)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for setting up and operating waterjet machines to manufacture precision components
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, work orders, and technical instructions
  • Position requires calculating dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments such as calipers and tape measures
  • Aligning and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines
  • Operator will select appropriate tools, equipment, and materials for each job
  • Load programs, home machines, and verify program accuracy prior to operation
  • Machining parts to specifications using various tools such as grinders, drills, and engraving equipment
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure quality standards are met
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining or equipment issues, deburr, clean, and properly mark finished parts
  • Maintain equipment through routine cleaning and lubrication
  • Accurate recording of production time and output is also required
  • Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive lifting
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, and crouch for extended periods
  • Work in confined or awkward spaces, use ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks in a manufacturing environment

Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have one to two years of waterjet or related machining experience
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment is required
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings is essential
  • Experience using hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and tape measures
  • Candidates should have basic computer skills and familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD software is preferred
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously
