IMEG is seeking a Civil Project Engineer specializing in water/wastewater projects to join our Civil team in any of these locations (South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas City, Missouri). In this role, you will lead and manage design efforts for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger, high-complexity assignments. You will work closely with engineers and consultants to deliver innovative engineering solutions for clients, including engineering analysis and design for public and private sector projects. Principal Responsibilities
• Lead design efforts for civil site design projects, includingmunicipal, commercial, residential, and industrial developments, using engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards.
• Complete and oversee permit applications for variouswater and wastewaterprojectsincoordination with the team, client, and reviewingjurisdiction
• Performmodeling,waterdistribution systems,storm sewer design, and sanitary sewer design using engineering software.
• Oversee projects throughdesign, bidding, and construction administration phases.
• Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build andmaintainclient relationships.
• Support project execution as part of a team, leading planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines andobjectives; document design decisions andmonitorproject progress.
• Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutions.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering; contribute to research and innovation within IMEG.
• Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all engineering work; interpret and apply state and local design criteria to project needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions.
• Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
• Professional Engineer (PE) License required
• 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction Industry
• Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
• Strong technical and analytical skills in the civil engineering field
• Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
• Ability to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
