Position: Water & Wastewater Facility Operator – Lynn Lake Project

Reports to: Supervisor, Maintenance

Schedule: Full-time (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off – Rotation) – 12-hour shifts

Location: Lynn Lake, Manitoba

Salary Range: $27-$31 CAD per hour

The Water & Wastewater Facility Operator will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring Private potable water and wastewater treatment facilities for the Lynn Lake Gold Project (LLGP) in accordance with the Manitoba Water and Wastewater Facility Operators Regulation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operates, maintains and inspects water and wastewater collection, treatment, and distribution facilities and undertakes minor servicing of related equipment.
  • Monitors, analyses and adjusts process parameters to maintain compliance with treatment requirements for drinking water quality standards and wastewater effluent quality parameters.
  • Performs sample collection and standard laboratory process testing and maintains accurate records and logs for reporting to regulatory bodies, as required.
  • Performs housekeeping, janitorial and other general maintenance duties.
  • Will be required to serve on standby and respond to after-hour callouts.
  • Maintain the following minimum Certification levels through the Manitoba Water & Wastewater Facility Operators Certification Program:
  • Class 2 Water Treatment (WT)
  • Class 1 Water Distribution (WD)
  • Class 1 Wastewater Collection (WWC)
  • Class 3 Wastewater Treatment (WWT)
  • Perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the position including lifting, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, and working from heights.
  • The ability to work in confined spaces and oversee and perform designated duties in inclement weather is also required.
  • Safely handle designated substances, including caustic and acidic chemicals for water treatment. Experiencing in operation of forklifts and/or telehandlers for transportation of treatment chemicals would be considered an asset.
  • Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content, analyze test results and instrument readings and make adjustments to plant equipment and systems to ensure quality control.
  • Interpret lab results to identify inefficiencies in the operation and correct as necessary to maintain compliance with drinking water and wastewater effluent quality standards.
  • Preform onsite analytical testing including mathematical and chemical calculations for chemical and operating processes.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, blueprints and other technical specifications; use and storage of industrial chemicals.
  • Inspecting ancillary equipment (lift stations, hoses, heat trace, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
