Summary

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Water Treatment Utility Supervisor. The Water Treatment Utility Supervisor reports to the Water Distribution Superintendent. The primary functions of this position include:

  • Supervise and lead water production staff — prioritizing and assigning daily work, coordinating scheduling to ensure proper plant coverage, and supporting staff training and development
  • Manage day-to-day facility operations and equipment performance, including daily shift strategies and weekly production reporting
  • Develop, monitor, and manage operations and division-level budgets, including cost analyses and budget requests
  • Evaluate design and cost proposals for water treatment and distribution projects, and monitor capital improvement (CIP) and LRIP projects from planning through completion
  • Serve as the facility's point of contact and public representative — ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, hosting tours, and resolving complex customer concerns

This is an FLSA Exempt, at-will position with the Town of Gilbert.

You're a seasoned water treatment professional who's ready to lead a team and own the performance of an entire facility. You bring hands-on technical knowledge of treatment processes, pumping systems, and water quality standards, paired with the supervisory instincts to coach staff, set goals, and keep operations running smoothly day to day. You're comfortable managing a budget as easily as you are walking the plant floor, and you know how to represent Gilbert confidently to regulators, contractors, and the public. You take ownership of compliance and safety, and you find real satisfaction in mentoring your team and keeping critical water infrastructure running reliably.

  • High School Diploma or GED; 1 year of specialized or technical training beyond high school; Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate
  • 5 years of experience in water treatment technology, working chemical and pumping systems, and water quality assessment techniques and applicable methods
  • 2 years of lead or supervisory experience
  • Grade IV Water Treatment and Grade II Distribution Certifications from ADEQ at time of hire (equivalent certification through reciprocity accepted at application, with Arizona certification of reciprocity obtained within 3 months of hire)
  • Arizona Class D Driver's License

This position requires a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.

This position has been designated as a Medium work position that spends time in a facility and office environment.
