Job Description

Wastewater Operator – 2nd Shift
Location: American Products
Shift: Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-1:30am
Pay: $19-21/hr + $2/hr shift differential
About the Role
Join the American Products wastewater treatment team and help ensure our facility stays compliant with local, state, and federal regulations. This 2nd shift role supports safe, efficient operation of our wastewater systems.

What You’ll Do
• Maintain and safely operate the paint line wash and wastewater systems.
• Adjust treatment equipment controls and monitor meters, gauges, and process data.
• Add treatment chemicals (polymers, metal salts, nutrients) as needed.
• Collect and test water samples; calibrate test equipment.
• Record data in computer systems.
• Perform basic maintenance using hand and power tools.
• Clean and maintain tanks, basins, screens, and other equipment.

What You Bring
Education
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience & Certifications
• Wastewater experience preferred.
• 40 hour Hazwoper preferred.
• 24 hour Hazwoper required within the first 60 days.
Skills
• Safe handling of industrial chemicals.
• Basic maintenance skills (plumbing, pumps, power tools).
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members.
• Strong safety awareness and use of PPE.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods, climb stairs, reach overhead, crouch, and kneel.
• Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Use of required PPE: safety glasses, safety footwear, chemical protective equipment.

• No direct reports.
• Must follow all safety procedures.
• Duties may be adjusted based on business needs.
