Summary

This position performs semi-skilled to skilled work necessary to operate, repair and maintain assets and equipment associated with the remote sites to include water tanks, pump stations and PRV's, including but not limited to pumps, blowers, floats, and RTUs, as well as grounds maintenance; and completion of other assigned duties as required. For technician positions (Trainee through Level Ill) , the employee will be enrolled in the appropriate Maintenance TechnicianApprenticeshipProgram(AP)andmustcompletetheassociatedbenchmarksand training. The incumbent works within a general outline of work to be performed, and will complete all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality andsafety.

The work is considered heavy in nature and involves walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, and constantly lifting, pushing or raising objects, exerting between35to50poundsofforceonarecurringbasisand100poundsofforceona frequent basis. The work requires the following physical abilities to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, fingering, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching , repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, andwalking.

Work environment may involve exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, vibration , fumes and/or noxious odors, traffic, moving machinery, electrical shock, heights, disease/pathogens, toxic/caustic

chemicals, confined spaces; and is dynamic that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.

  • Inspects, operates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairsequipment;
  • Assists with construction and installation projects asassigned;
  • Prepares and maintains accurate workrecords;
  • Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality andsafety;
  • Attends meetings, as appropriate, and training to enhance job knowledge andskills;
  • Is considered essential staff during emergencies and may be required to work long hours at times or be at work for several days at a time in rareinstances;
  • May be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays as needed in order to accomplish assignedwork;
  • Must also be able to be on call 24-hours per day per on call week; on call is rotated among available personnel and may require additional work hours outside of the normal work schedule;and
  • Performs other related duties asassigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • High school diploma or GED;
  • No prior experience required for entry level trainee positions;
  • Must obtain DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) medical examiner's certificate within thirty (30) days from the date of hire;
  • Valid South Carolina Class "D" Driver's License;
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a South Carolina Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within one year from the date of hire or transfer;
  • Must complete all AP benchmarks by the noted deadlines based on AP enrollment date;
  • Pay grade will be dependent upon certifications, education and work experience for applicants who meet the Apprenticeship Program benchmarks.
  • Trainee: Pay Grade 107 and Salary Range: $39,024 -$48,780
  • Technician I: Pay Grade 108 and Salary Range: $40,975 -$52,243
  • Technician II: Pay Grade 109 and Salary Range: $43,024 -$54,855.50
  • Technician Ill: Pay Grade 110 and Salary Range: $46,251 -$58,970

TRAINEE REQUIREMENTS:

Receivestrainingandassistsinmaintainingandoperatingremotesitestoincludewatertanks, pump stations and PRV's, which includes operating, troubleshooting and performing maintenance on equipment, such as pumps, blowers, floats and RTUs, as well as providing grounds maintenance, etc.; and performs other duties asassigned.
