Under the supervision of Lead Water Plant Operator, isrequiredtooperateand maintain all equipment within the Water Plant. Schedule regular maintenance and address irregular maintenance of equipment within the plant. Work closely with plumbers and other infrastructure personnel to resolve issues. Participate in goal-setting processes and strategic planning for mission support with Lead Water Plant Operator. Contribute to a safe working environment byparticipatingin employee trainings and identification and mitigation of environmental and job hazards. Maintain effective communications between departments. Routinelyutilizeindependent judgment and discretion to solve problems andidentifypotential issues.
Position Responsibilities
Maintains a safe workplace program and ensures that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Complies withall ASC Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH), Waste Management and Quality Assurance requirements, goals,policiesand procedures. Provides documentation to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
Responsible for operation, preventative maintenance and repair of the sea water desalinization and treatment system.
Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on reverse osmosis units, pumps, valves, piping systems, water monitoringequipmentand all auxiliary equipment asrequired
Maintains cleanliness of water plant.
Responds to unscheduled equipment or process failures.
Ensures efficient and economical operation of station water production equipment.
Willingness to carry a radio or pager for after hour’s callout’s
Completes maintenance records and documents all maintenance performed andmaintainsoperating logbooks and databases asrequired
Maintains control of plant tools, manuals, repair parts,assembliesandconsumables.
Maintainsinventory accuracy at 98% or better.
Works closely with and takes direction from the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) and coordinates in ordering repair and/or spare parts, maintenance parts,assembliesand consumables.
Trains Water PlantOperator’son mechanical equipment as directed.
Complies withapplicable Safety, Environment, Health, and Waste Management policies and procedures.
Advises the Power & Water Supervisor of the status of water production equipment and systems.
Monitors liquid nitrogen production equipment.
Monitors and performs preventive maintenance on waste heat recovery system and components.
Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of all auxiliary systems including but not limited to glycol pumps & motors, ventilationfansand air compressors.
Assists theWaste WaterTreatment Plant operator in performing troubleshooting, maintenance, or overhauls of plant equipment.
Works a rotating shift; day,swingor night shift
Responsible formaintaininga safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Performs duties in support of division metrics (as provided by supervisor).
Supports the achievement ofAmentumand ASC metrics, whether metrics are directly or indirectly, effected by this position's work activities.
Works to achieve ASC goals and contractual commitments.

RequiredEducation, Experience, Certificates and Licenses
High School diploma orGED
Two years’ experience in maintenance and repair of water treatment equipment.
ExpectedSkills and Competencies:
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once isrequired
Working knowledge of the principles and practices applied in the maintenance and repair of reverse osmosis units, pumps, valves, piping systems, water monitoringequipmentand related equipment.
Ability tomaintaina professional attitude and to work efficiently in a stressful environment isrequired
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred
OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification
Previousexperience with remote Polar Logistics operations.
High school graduate or GED.
Reverse Osmosis experience
Physical and/or Other Requirements
Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods
Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica
Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF
Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum.
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold
Mustparticipatein community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safetyobjectives
Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States
No clearance requirement but the contract and/or the site requires US Citizenship to be approved for access. (includes NACI / T1, MRPT, CAC): Must be able to obtain andmaintainfacility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship isrequiredfor facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
