This is a fantastic opportunity for a Water Infrastructure Engineer to join our national water team based in Christchurch or Wellington. For the right candidate, other locations where GHD has a presence may also be considered.
About the role:
The role involves supporting the design and delivery of water infrastructure solutions across the full project lifecycle, from planning and investigations through to detailed design and construction support. You will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams delivering technically robust and practical outcomes for our clients.
Key responsibilities:
Support the planning, design and delivery of water infrastructure projects, including water supply, wastewater and stormwater systems
Contribute to the design of pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs and associated infrastructure
Undertake engineering analysis, calculations and documentation to support project outcomes
Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, drawings and specifications in line with project requirements
Collaborate with project teams to deliver work safely, efficiently and to a high standard
Support project delivery processes, including adherence to quality, safety and risk management frameworks
Engage with internal stakeholders and support client interactions as part of project delivery
Develop good business relationships with existing and potential clients to ensure required project
Perform office and site-based roles, including working with virtual teams across GHD offices nationally and internationally.
Provide guidance to graduate design engineers on projects and be able to train and mentor them.
A relevant university degree in Civil engineering
4+ years’ experience in water infrastructure design or delivery within a consulting or infrastructure environment
Knowledge of water, wastewater and/or stormwater systems and associated design standards
Ability to undertake engineering analysis and contribute to practical, buildable solutions
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A proactive approach to learning and professional development

You are a developing engineer with a strong foundation in civil or water engineering and a desire to grow your experience in infrastructure delivery. You demonstrate sound engineering judgement and contribute to solving complex problems in a structured and practical way, consistent with professional expectations at GHD. You enjoy working collaboratively, take accountability for your work, and are motivated to deliver outcomes that make a positive difference for clients and communities.

Design software skills (i.e., 12D, Civil3D, ACAD, GIS)
Organised in multitasking of self and others and able to meet deadlines
Ability to be proactive and take ownership of tasks and projects
Self-motivated and energetic
Flexibility in your approach to challenges
