Responsible for the coordination of Water Conservation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES

  • Lead conservation initiatives within the City of Denton.
  • Serve as representative for conservation issues and initiatives Citywide; spearhead public awareness campaigns and develop marketing communications and content promoting the City of Denton conservation and related projects.
  • Assist with creation of policies and program guidelines to best serve the City of Denton and its resources.
  • Track program data, monitor contractor performance, and report program performance data; notify leadership if unable to resolve issues impacting program performance.
  • Complete historical benchmarking and ensure tracking and reporting of natural resource usage trends for municipal buildings; coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement efficiency and conservation strategies.
  • Develop educational and program promotional information to be provided to internal and external stakeholders; act as liaison with higher education institutions.
  • Oversee volunteers who assist in the development of training materials and educational outreach/community involvement programs.

WATER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate water audit and water incentive program activities.
  • Assist with the development of and oversee the implementation of the Five-Year Water Conservation Strategic Plan.
  • Research, evaluate, develop, and implement programs and initiatives to address water quality, water conservation, drought concerns, and water source protection; research peer programs to collaborate, improve program success, obtain data, and create appropriate benchmarks.
  • Research advances in water efficiency technologies and trends; provide research summary with analysis potential implementation opportunities that Identify programs that could lower water consumption to meet or exceed five- and ten-year conservation goals.
  • Investigate cost and prepare cost proposal to integrate water conservation curriculum into Denton Independent School District and track impact on water usage; identify grant opportunities to fund additional conservation education and efficiency programs.
  • Track program data, monitor conservation initiative impact on water usage patterns, and report program performance data. Update appropriate internal and external programs accordingly.
  • Manage licensed irrigators, water compliance coordinators and interns
  • Develop, establish, and manage service agreements with other programs, departments, and agencies.
  • Represent the City on local, regional, State and Federal boards, commissions, councils related to water conservation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field; and,
  • Two (2) years' experience in conservation concepts in water, wastewater, solid waste, electrical, or related field,

  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law).
  • Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, employment history verification, and social security number verification.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS

  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

  • Lifting: Lifting no more than 20 pounds and carrying up to 10 pounds.
  • Environment: Work in an office setting; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Travel: Travel to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work after normal business hours, as needed.
