Salary Range: $17.00 - $18.00 Hourly

- Provide in-water support to Swim Instructors in accordance with YMCA guidelines and set lesson plans.
- Ensure program, staff and patrons maintain hygiene habits/practices in accordance with CDC guidelines.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Maintain records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
- Develop positive relationship with participants and provide motivational support and guidance.
- Refer detailed inquiries to a supervisor.
- Understand and enthusiastically endorse other YMCA programs, especially other aquatic programs.
- Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
- Organize and put away needed class equipment. Report damaged equipment to supervisor.
- Maintain all required certifications.
- Adhere to assigned schedule and communicate with supervisor in advance of any scheduling conflicts.

Qualifications
- Minimum age of 14.
- Must possess a general knowledge and understanding of the YMCA Swim Lessons Program and its goals.
- Certifications obtained within first 60 days of employment: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification, and Emergency Oxygen.
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor safety assistant skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor Certification must be completed within first year of eligibility.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard, YMCA Lifeguard, or equivalent certification accepted by NYS is preferred.
- Must enjoy working with children and have experience working with groups of children
- Must demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and a sincere interest in working with children.
