
West Midlands Fire Service is looking for outstanding leaders who wish to be considered for Watch Commander opportunities within our service.
We welcome applications from experienced Watch Commanders (with approval from their current line manager as per the attached form) who are interested in current and future vacancies. Candidates will be assessed against the NFCC Leadership Framework, specifically across all four quadrants of the Supervisory level (Leading Others).
Please note: applicants seeking to transfer into West Midlands Fire Service will be required to complete the full promotion process.

Successful candidates will be placed on an opportunities list, ranked by assessment score. As roles become available, candidates will be invited to take part in a professional discussion and, where appropriate, a role-specific exercise. External applicants may be considered for both permanent and temporary positions (where roles are expected to last a minimum of 12 months).
The opportunities list will remain valid for 12 months. Candidates who have not secured a post within this period will need to reapply through a new process.
