Job Description

Your Opportunity

The role of a Water/Wastewater EIT is to work on smaller projects and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations and field work. You will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of engineering assignments and may assist in the analysis of proposed projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Performs basic engineering calculations.
  • Assists in the preparation of engineering project documents and client presentations, as well as communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
  • Attends and assists in client, contractor, stakeholder, and regulatory agency meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals, site assessments, and vendor/equipment supplier contacts and coordination.
  • Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings. Continue to develop skills using software programs for design and/or drafting.
  • Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, assists in the request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
  • Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions through the proper and appropriate line of reporting.
  • Assists with the development of job specific discipline specifications.
  • Assists in the evaluation and selection of systems and materials.
  • Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
  • Trains less experienced team members in day-to-day activities including routine technical design, fundamental calculations, processing and company procedures.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings and other similar material.
  • Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Adobe.
  • Proficient in 2D Autodesk, 2D Bentley (multi 2D platform) preferred as well as basic knowledge of relevant software programs which may include Civil3D, StormCAD, PondKing, InfoWORKS, WaterCAD, Biowin, GPS-X and HADES.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer in Training (EIT) and working toward PE license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.

    Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
