The purpose of the Waste Procurement Officer (WPO) is to ensure waste disposal, recovery, recycling and composting contracts and agreements are continually in place for Lancashire County Council to discharge its duties as a Waste Disposal Authority.
The WPO will play a lead role in the development and procurement of a wide range of waste contracts of differing nature and value, whilst working to established deadlines. This will involve the detailed preparation of contract documents, including writing careful and precise service specifications, as well as evaluation of tenders, so an excellent attention to detail is required in order to develop documents.
The WPO will be able to interpret legal requirements and work with colleagues within other departments to ensure that all legal and procurement responsibilities are met. A detailed understanding of public sector procurement procedures is essential.
The WPO will report directly to the Principal Waste Management Officer (Programmes and Partnerships). The post is a full-time position (37 hours per week), with the working base located at the Environmental Education Centre, Leyland.
