Advanced Practice Opportunities Across Washington

This Is More Than an APP Role

Advanced practice providers are essential to healthcare access in rural communities.

They may serve as primary care providers, support emergency and inpatient services, strengthen specialty programs, care for patients across the lifespan, and help communities maintain services that might otherwise be difficult to sustain.

The strongest rural APPs are collaborative, adaptable, clinically confident, and comfortable building trusted relationships with patients, families, physicians, nurses, staff, and community partners.

Some opportunities may offer a traditional clinic schedule. Others may include inpatient coverage, call, specialty care, leadership responsibilities, per diem work, or short-term support during a staffing gap.

What You Will Bring

Qualifications will vary by opportunity, but organizations may seek:


  • Current nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or applicable advanced practice licensure

  • Eligibility for Washington licensure

  • National certification in the relevant specialty

  • Current DEA registration when required

  • Relevant clinical experience

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and professional judgment

  • The ability to work independently while remaining connected to the broader care team

  • Experience serving rural, underserved, or medically complex populations

  • Experience with Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, FQHCs, public hospital districts, or community healthcare organizations
