Position Overview
FR Conversions LLC is seeking two experienced Warranty & Diagnostics Technicians to support post-delivery quality and field service for our fleet of converted ambulances, mini-buses, and specialty mobility vans. This is a senior, hands-on technical role designed for individuals who can step into complex diagnostic and repair work with minimal training.
The Warranty & Diagnostics Technician serves as a technical problem-solver and escalation resource, responsible for diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and structural issues on low-volume, highly customized vehicles. This role requires comfort working without standard repair templates and the ability to troubleshoot systems where OEM platforms interface with custom electrical and mechanical upfits.
When not actively supporting warranty vehicles, this role performs Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) on completed stock units to ensure issues are identified and corrected before customer delivery—directly reducing downstream warranty events. Most work is performed on-site in Westminster, with field service required periodically based on customer need. PDI work is performed as needed to support delivery schedules and reduce future warranty events
Key Responsibilities
Warranty Diagnostics & Repair
- Independently diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and structural warranty issues.
- Troubleshoot multi-system electrical issues involving OEM platforms, custom wiring, circuits, and harnesses.
- Perform hands-on mechanical repairs and adjustments.
- Execute welding repairs and fabrication within vehicle environments.
- Document diagnostic findings, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Field Service & On-Call Support
- Provide technical field support at customer locations.
- Participate in rotational on-call coverage.
- Travel up to approximately 25%.
- Communicate professionally with internal teams and customers.
- On-call support is rotational and primarily focused on triage and escalation, with in-person response required only when necessary.
Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) & Quality Support
- Perform comprehensive PDIs on completed stock vehicles.
- Verify proper operation of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Identify and correct issues prior to shipment.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Serve as a technical escalation point.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Warranty teams.
- Provide technical input and recommendations to support repair standards, warranty decisions, and long-term product improvements.
This Role Is a Strong Fit for Someone Who:
- Enjoys diagnosing complex, non-repetitive problems and identifying true root cause.
- Is comfortable working independently and being trusted to make technical decisions.
- Takes pride in workmanship and long-term repair quality, not quick fixes.
- Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical partners.
- Prefers hands-on technical mastery over people management responsibilities.
- Is comfortable working in environments where every vehicle is slightly different and not every problem has a documented solution.
Screenings Required:
- Pre-Employment Physical, Hearing and Drug Test
- Pre-Employment Respirator Fit Test
- A valid and current driver’s license is required; candidates must provide proof of renewal upon expiration.
- A clean driving record demonstrated through a motor vehicle record (MVR) check will be conducted prior to employment and annually thereafter.
