Job Description

Job Title: Warranty and Parts Specialist
Department: Maintenance
Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday
FLSA Status: Exempt - Non-Represented
Reports To: Assistant Director of Maintenance
Salary Range: $60,400 - $72,500

The Warranty and Parts Specialist coordinates warranty information and the processing of warranty claims. This position will assist in the research of vehicle problems and provides maintenance parts and inventory support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assists Procurement with new part acquisition, part rejections, and vendor negotiations over parts and services.
• Provides bus part support to garages, Fleet Maintenance and Procurement.
• Corrects and rejects incorrect parts in inventory and adjusts amounts for inventory.
• Provides MCTS with the ability to pursue warranty claims from our vendors and recover dollars on warranty repairs and parts.
• Provides base data needed to collect warranty damages and alerts us to patterns of component failure.
• Assists in researching problems with our fleet of buses or support vehicles.
• Provides advice for equipment specifications for vehicle procurement.
• Negotiates with vendors for services and prices.
• Teaches non-maintenance personnel the relevance of parts and components.
• Completes Internet research to locate and price parts and tools.
• Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two (2) to (3) years of mechanical repair experience required. Experience with parts within the auto, truck and bus industries will be considered in lieu of mechanical repair experience.
• Valid Class D Wisconsin Driver’s License (non-probationary) required.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement and no Air Brake Restriction (or valid CDL permit 14 days prior to start date or transfer date) required.
• One (1) year automotive parts experience preferred.
• Associate's Degree in related field preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of bus systems and components.
• Knowledge of mechanics and fleet maintenance.
• Knowledge of patterns of component failure.
• Knowledge of vehicle procurement.
• Knowledge of MCTS operations and policies.
• Knowledge of MCTS vendors, supply chain and products.
• Skilled in computer operations and spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and related software.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships.
• Ability to work independently.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
• Work is frequently conducted in an office or shop environment and may sometimes be in a warehouse or vehicle. The incumbent is frequently exposed to loud noises and may sometimes be exposed to fumes, toxic substances and extreme temperatures.
• Physical requirements are those described of medium work exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
