Key Responsibilities

Forklift Operation & Material Handling

  • Handle awkward, heavy, and oversized loads, including large bunks of dimensional lumber, heavy sheathing, and long architectural aluminum extrusions
  • Carefully maneuver and stage finished panelized wall structures without causing damage to the product.

Production Support

  • Ensure automated framing and processing machinery (such as Weinmann BeamTeq, FrameTeq, and WallTeq lines) are continuously supplied with the correct raw materials to prevent production downtime.
  • Remove finished assemblies from the end of the production line and safely transport them to designated staging or shipping areas.

Shipping & Receiving

  • Unload incoming delivery trucks safely, verifying piece counts and inspecting raw materials for quality and transit damage.
  • Load outgoing finished panels and structures onto flatbed trucks, ensuring loads are properly balanced, secured, and ready for safe transport to construction sites.
  • Process packing slips, receiving reports, and basic inventory documentation.

Inventory & Facility Organization

  • Organize and manage material storage areas, ensuring raw materials are rotated and easily accessible.
  • Assist with regular inventory cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and debris-free warehouse and lumber yard to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.

Safety & Equipment Maintenance

  • Complete detailed pre-shift daily inspections of forklifts and material handling equipment, logging any mechanical issues or required maintenance.
  • Strictly adhere to all facility safety protocols, particularly regarding pedestrian right-of-way, speed limits, and the handling of oversized materials.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certification: Valid, up-to-date Forklift Operator Certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of forklift operation experience, preferably in a lumber yard, building materials, or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Specialized Skills: Proven experience safely handling long, wide, and unbalanced loads (e.g., 20ft+ lumber, completed wall panels, and metal extrusions).
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs consistently, and perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
  • Attributes: Strong spatial awareness, attention to detail, and a strict commitment to workplace safety. Familiarity with automated manufacturing environments is a strong asset.
