Position Overview

The Warehouse/Shop Worker supports daily warehouse and shop operations by receiving and organizing materials, preparing deliveries, operating warehouse equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

This is a hands-on position for someone with experience in shipping and receiving, forklift operation, deliveries, and safely loading and securing materials for transport.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, organize, and stage incoming materials and equipment.
  • Prepare materials, shipments, and equipment for delivery to job sites and other locations.
  • Load and unload trucks, including flatbed trucks, and properly secure loads for transport.
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Make deliveries to job sites and other locations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly warehouse, shop, breakroom, and restroom areas.
  • Remove trash and dispose of materials appropriately.
  • Perform basic facility upkeep, including changing light bulbs and air filters.
  • Identify and report equipment, facility, inventory, and safety concerns to management.
  • Follow company procedures for material handling, equipment operation, vehicle use, housekeeping, and workplace safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with shipping and receiving, forklift operation, deliveries, and loading and securing materials.
  • Knowledge of safe material-handling and load-securement practices.
  • Working knowledge of basic building and facility maintenance.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to meet company requirements for operating a company vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to safety.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with team members, vendors, customers, and job-site personnel.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, safety procedures, warning labels, and delivery documentation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification following hire.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements listed below must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Regularly lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, crouch, reach, grasp, push, pull, and carry materials.
  • Safely enter and exit delivery vehicles and operate a motor vehicle as required.
  • Work in warehouse and shop environments that may be exposed to hot or cold temperatures.
  • Work at elevated heights when required and when appropriate safety measures are in place.
