Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Warehouse Supervisor to support the Management Team with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, responsible for a group of 2 team leaders, operators, Auditors, General workers and ensuring an efficient warehouse operation in achieving business targets. Provide line management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, checking any issues, and ensuring operational targets, KPIs, and quality standards are met to meet the requirements of the customer.

Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve exacting standards, whilst fostering a culture of working safely. Leading a continuous improvement environment whilst keeping a growth mindset in the team. Creating a positive and collaborative work environment, whilst cultivating and carrying forward Maersk values and principles in every aspect of our duties. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operations Oversight: Coordinate the daily workflow of the inbound floor, ensuring all orders are received and all movements are done accurately.

  • Team Leadership: Train, schedule, and evaluate inbound staff. Foster a safe, accountable, and highly productive work environment.

  • Logistics & receiving: Track shipments to ensure they are offloaded in time, and stock is moved, systematically and physically .

  • Quality Control: Check and audit all stock that is offloaded to guarantee order accuracy for the next day loading plan .

  • Systems Management: Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP platforms to track inventory and shipping labels.

  • Ensure all reports always kept up to date.

  • Ensure 5 S principles are conducted in every area of responsibility.

  • Staff Discipline (time and attendance, PPE, not following procedure, failure to follow reasonable instruction, etc).

  • Staff engagement (meetings, motivations toolbox talks etc.).

  • Ensure upkeep of strict time and attendance by yourself and your team.

  • Ensure Maersk code of conduct is compiled by yourself and your teams.

  • Leadership development (personal and team).

  • Ensure any deviation to company policy and code of conduct and illegal activity is reported.

  • Ensure Consumables are checked in your department, and not abused, and shortages reported promptly.

  • Ensure that company assets are taken care of in your department and any breakage or missing item is reported.

Performance Reporting: Monitor KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery rates, error rates, order turnaround) and report progress to senior management. As per below:

  • On time offloading of shunt trucks at 99%

  • On time pack away at 99%

  • On time scanning at 99%

  • Daily offloading and standing times are minimal

  • Daily Attendance at 99 %

Compliance and Safety:

  • Enforce warehouse safety policies.

  • Ensure proper use of material handling equipment.

  • Maintain clean and organized loading bay.

  • Ensure all emergency exits in your working area are kept clear of obstructions.

  • Ensure all fire extinguishers are kept clear of obstructions.

  • Ensure that all staff are adhering to PPE requirements.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Someone with:

  • A Matric / Grade 12 certificate is typically needed. A relevant degree in coordination, business administration, or supply chain management is highly preferred.

  • Experience: 3+ years in warehouse or supply chain operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Technical Skills: Ability in MS Excel, WMS platforms, and warehouse reporting tools.

  • Physical Demands: Requires the ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift heavy items in a fast-paced, industrial setting.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.

  • Be an adaptive person, cheerful, with a cheerful outlook.

  • A strong collaborator yet still able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high mindfulness, and ability to multi-task.
