The Supervisor – Storage, Material Handling & Parts Shipping is a key member of the Mediapolis Equipment & Automation plant supervisors’ team, primarily responsible for all receiving, storage, picking, kitting & shipping operations at Mediapolis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Oversee receipt, inspection and storage of inbound goods (including SOPs) to ensure inventory is organized for efficient identification, counting, and eventual picking. Communicates any quality, packaging, and arrival issues upon receipt to appropriate Supply Chain buyer. This includes routine QC check of receipts completed.
  • Oversee the picking and packing processes (including SOPs) of production kits, customer sales orders, ensuring correct items and quantities are delivered within the specified delivery date to internal and external customers. This includes routine QC check of production kits & customer shipments prior to delivery.
  • Communicate daily & weekly priorities to warehouse associates to ensure clear responsibilities and expectations for the team. Schedules colleagues according to demand needs, plans vacation schedules & has specified backup training/roles assigned. Visual management of progress against targets for clear team understanding is an expectation.
  • Plan and supervise the modernization of warehouse operations, including use of ERP technology, storage solutions, scanning technologies and capital investments to improve efficiency.
  • Work closely with other site supervisors and colleagues to identify, propose and execute process and workflow improvements.
  • Oversee cycle-count program to ensure adherence to Barry-Wehmiller cycle count requirements. Assist inventory control person in root cause and fix recurring inventory accuracy issues.
  • Foster a strong safety culture that encourages team members to work safely, identify and correct potential hazards, and report safety concerns or incidents to management.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in the warehouse with defined locations for activities and materials. Ensure all storage spaces are used as efficiently as possible.
  • Work closely with freight carriers and 3PLs (3rd party logistics companies) to ensure dependable service for receipts and deliveries.
  • Specialty projects may be assigned as needed related to warehouse space transitions and system or process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years + in warehouse operations working in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience executing warehouse operations and process improvements including but not limited to workflow, bin/storage locations, racking configuration, material movement in/out of warehouse, and cycle counts.
  • Proficient operator of forklifts, scales, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Experience with industry software such as MS Office Suite , Infor ERP, or similar.
  • Post-Secondary bachelor’s degree or diploma preferred.
  • Excellent listening and critical thinking skills with a strong customer service focus.
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal/communication skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and evolve/improve existing ways of doing things.
  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is associated with exposure to manufacturing and warehousing facilities. The employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by the employer when in the operational area.
  • This position will require physical activity such as sitting and standing many times through the day, regular walking throughout the warehouse, and ability to lift 50lbs or more.
  • The warehouse is ventilated but not air conditioned in some areas. As such, this role must be able to work in very warm summer temperatures but also cooler temperatures in the winter.
