The Warehouse-Plant Shipping and Receiving Clerk must follow all plant safety rules and requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety rules and regulations. Documentation and paperwork procedures must be followed as well as verbal and written instructions and guidelines according to the job requirements. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for all clerical operations of shipping and receiving. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will cross train with other departments to assist when needed. This role does not have direct reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Process all Bill of Ladings including the review of all BOL’s ensuring they are current and pertinent info is included.
  • Create shipping labels for outgoing orders.
  • Resolve issues pertaining to past shipments or freight.
  • Processing freight invoices.
  • Responsible for CHEP Pallet reconciliation reports.
  • Receive inbound freight and validate paperwork for accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate trailer inspection logs.
  • Assist with inventory cycle audits including counting, entering data, and reconciliation.
  • Ensure staged orders are accurate and ready for shipment.
  • Secure necessary pallets to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Verify Certificates of Analysis (COA’s) obtained for orders and provide to customer, as needed.
  • Responsible for checking sales orders for item, count, carrier and accuracy.
  • Responsible for clerical duties as assigned, including answering the phone.
  • Follow all safety rules to include but not limited to LOTO and keep area clean and in orderly condition.
  • Responsible for food product quality and safety.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
  • Associate degree in business field preferred

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years’ experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packing environment preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience in related field
  • Knowledge of computer systems including MS Office and ERP programs. Ability to learn new job-related software such as D365.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention is required to perform duties, involving repetitive or diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity.
  • Intermediate mathematics skills required ( counting accuracy, excel formulas etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duty on any shift and work overtime on short notice basis. Long-term, temporary assignments to any shift may be required to maintain manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work in high temperatures (hot or cold), working at heights and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes and chemical or require personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical aspects of the job as performed in an 8-hour workday.

  • Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/ descend.
  • Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.
