Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Warehouse Operative Specialist to support the accurate handling, storage, and distribution of high-value, temperature-sensitive genetic assets.

You will need precision, attention to detail, be reliable, and need a commitment to safety and quality standards as well as the ability to work to strict deadlines in a regulated and safety-focused environment to be successful in this role.

You will have the opportunity to work in a specialised, high-volume warehouse environment supporting critical genetic distribution across domestic and international markets.

Full training and support will be provided for this position.

Please note that there will be a 5-year employment check (with any gaps in employment supported) together with a DBS check required prior to hiring.

Working info and patterns

  • Core working pattern of approximately 36–40 hours per week, structured across Monday to Friday
  • Typical daily start times range from 7:00am to 8:00am, with finish times between 4:00pm and 4:30pm
  • Early finish on Fridays (typically midday)
  • Includes a paid lunch break on full working days

You Will

  • Pick, pack, and dispatch orders accurately and efficiently
  • Manage goods-in and goods-out processes
  • Conduct stock management, stock taking, and inventory checks
  • Store, handle, and process genetic materials preserved in liquid nitrogen
  • Prepare shipments in line with country-specific export and packaging requirements (EU and international)
  • Ensure all orders meet strict distribution deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
  • Maintain accurate records of stock movements and shipment details
  • Operate within safety protocols when handling hazardous materials, including use of PPE
  • Support warehouse operations across UK sites and global distribution channels
  • Handling and distribution of liquid nitrogen–stored genetic assets across UK and international markets
  • Managing large volumes of inventory, including millions of individual assets annually
  • Working with a wide range of items and storage locations
  • Preparing multiple export shipments per week with varying quantities and packaging requirements
  • Operating within a high-value supply chain with strict accuracy and compliance expectations

Requirements

  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Comfortable working with hazardous materials (full training and PPE provided)
  • Ability to follow strict processes and compliance standards
  • Reliable and able to meet deadlines consistently
  • Willingness to undergo background and employment checks as part of onboarding
  • Full driving license required

  • Role involves handling hazardous substances (liquid nitrogen) with appropriate safety training and equipment provided
  • Security and compliance checks are required prior to starting employment
  • Overtime opportunities may be available depending on operational needs
  • 60+ GB packing lists weekly
  • 1.3 to 1.5 million assets despatched per year into GB sites
  • C. 6K different items and locations picked from per month
  • Packing 10+ export shipments per week containing between 3K and 20K singular assets in each shipment, packing in 25’s, 35’s in bulk and on canes
  • Export to 20+ EU countries and 15+ rest of the world
  • 2.0 million + individual assets exported annually and increasing
