The Warehouse Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the shipping, receiving, inventory control and quality operations of the Distribution Center. This includes overseeing the daily operations of the departments and their employees, ensuring that they are operated efficiently, with adequate resources to fulfill order requirements and meet quality, customer specifications and food safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement policies, procedures, and organizational structure for the shipping, receiving, inventory control and quality departments within the framework of corporate policies
  • Assist in the establishment of short-term and long-term operational goals that fit within the overall corporate objectives
  • Track and coordinate the receipt, storage and timely delivery of product and supplies
  • Determine staffing levels and assign workload
  • Develop, maintain, and review shipping, receiving, inventory and quality control records
  • Report on warehouse productivity levels, resolve deficiencies, identify areas of improvement, and recommend best practices
  • Provide effective leadership, timely coaching, training, and corrective action guidance as well as performance management to department supervisors and workforce
  • Responsible for the department safe working environment; ensure that company and statutory hygiene, housekeeping and safety policies and procedures are complied with
  • In partnership with the HR team, ensure department training, compliance, and enforcement of all company policies/procedures/guidelines as well as statutory legislation
  • Other core expectations as defined by the company.

Requirements and Skills

  • Secondary school education required; post secondary diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain management or business administration or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ high volume, warehouse management experience, required; experience in a fresh produce distribution center preferred
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining department efficiencies; detailed knowledge of shipping, receiving and quality processes required
  • Continuous improvement experience including working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Demonstrated experience with Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety and Food Safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of ERP software; Famous® software experience preferred
  • Able to work in a team environment with individuals of all leadership styles, personalities, and career levels
  • Strong knowledge of legislative requirements to maintain compliance to all relevant statues and guiding principles
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy, as well as consistent follow-through skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible to shift assignments as required to meet both customer & business needs.

Work Environment:

Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; on-call and holiday availability, ability and willingness to travel.

This job operates across multiple location and environment could vary from a refrigerated warehouse, where temperatures range from forty-5 – fifty-5degrees °F to a greenhouse operation with temperatures that range from eighty – ninety degrees °F. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operation

Role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Specific vision capabilities required; employee is to work in front of a computer, sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods

Role frequently requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to handle or feel product or packaging, and reach with hands and arms

The position frequently involves needing to lift up to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds.
