Location: We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager for Huntington Place located in Detroit, Michigan

Unit Description:

Huntington Place is a premier convention center located in downtown Detroit along the International Riverfront. The facility spans approximately 2.4 million square feet, including over 723,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 40,000-square-foot Grand Riverview Ballroom, and more than 100 meeting and banquet rooms. It hosts major events such as the North American International Auto Show and serves over a million visitors annually.

The Warehouse Manager is an integral member of the Operations team, responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of warehouse functions including purchasing, receiving, inventory management, and distribution of product and equipment. The Warehouse Manager plays a key role in the planning and setup of mobile quick‑serve equipment, including the maintenance and cleaning of food service equipment. They are responsible for maintaining equipment and vehicles in safe and reliable working condition. This role ensures that food, beverages, and event-related supplies are efficiently procured, accurately tracked, securely stored, and delivered to the right locations on time.

The Warehouse Manager will collaborate with Culinary, Concessions, Banquets, Catering, and Event Operations leaders to forecast supply needs, plan ahead for large-scale events, and guarantee that all departments have the materials required for success. They will oversee warehouse staff, delegate responsibilities, and implement systems to maximize efficiency, control costs, and maintain high service standards.

A key responsibility of this role is to uphold strict cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards in compliance with Sodexo Live! policies and all regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Direct and develop an efficient centralized warehousing operation by establishing control procedures for cataloging, inventory management and distribution of materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure all food products are stored, held, and transported under proper conditions as per sanitation standards. Including cleanliness of locations.
  • Maintain the supply system including the set-up and cleaning of food service equipment.
  • Plan and communicate effectively with other food and beverage management.
  • Comply and submit regular reports of damage, outdated stock or supplies, over and under shipments, return of goods to vendors.
  • Review inventory of product in warehouse against anticipated delivery and shipping schedules to minimize handling and efficiency.
  • Monitor quality of products upon receipt and ensure compliance with established standards for sanitation.
  • Supervise warehouse employees and executes responsibilities for hiring, training, scheduling, performance coaching, discipline and assessments.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, coaching and direction to staff regarding their responsibilities for warehouse operations, product handling, quality, and cost control.
  • Assign tasks to warehouse staff according to receiving schedules; End Results: Sodexo Live! Standards for employee satisfaction and retention are met.
  • Ensure OSHA regulations and Health Department standards for food safety and sanitation are incorporated throughout all warehouse and storage areas.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or appropriate combination of education and experience to support on-the-job effectiveness.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of warehouse management experience within a food and beverage, hospitality, or high-volume operations environment.
  • Proven ability to manage, train, and motivate staff in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and Health Department requirements.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, with experience in cost controls, budgeting, and P&L accountability highly desirable.
  • Technologically savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs; experience with inventory management software preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with vendors, clients, and all levels of staff.
  • Self-starter who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute across functional areas of the business.

Other Requirements:

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes, and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver in tightly-quartered environments.
  • Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
