Job Description

  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations to ensure accurate, safe, and efficient receipt, storage, picking, packing, and shipping of inventory. Serve as the front-line supervisor for warehouse staff, enforcing policies, coaching team members, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of warehouse associates (receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, returns).
  • Assign tasks and schedules; monitor productivity and quality; provide training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Operate and enforce safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliations, and root-cause analysis of discrepancies.
  • Use Warehouse Management System (WMS) and RF scanning devices to process transactions and generate reports.
  • Coordinate inbound/outbound logistics with carriers and internal stakeholders; prioritize urgent shipments.
  • Oversee equipment use and maintenance (forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors); ensure proper inspections and operator certifications.
  • Support continuous improvement projects (5S, lean initiatives, process documentation) to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Prepare daily/weekly KPIs and operational reports (throughput, accuracy, on-time shipments, safety incidents).
  • Fill in for Warehouse Manager as needed and escalate issues appropriately.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2–4 years of warehouse experience with at least 1 year in a lead/supervisor or team lead role (or equivalent demonstrated leadership).
  • Hands-on experience with WMS, RF scanners, and basic MS Office (Excel) reporting.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communicator with basic coaching/conflict-resolution ability.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Maintain accurate receipt and put away records, including identification and documentation of damages, overages, and/or shortages

Locate and retrieve product for shipment utilizing system-generated pick list, validating for accuracy

Submit all paperwork to appropriate department upon completion and validation for accuracy

Lift and pull inventory from storage shelves, if/when applicable (up to 50 pounds individually and/or 70 pounds as a group)

Maintain cleanliness of warehouse at all times

Other duties as assigned by warehouse management

Broad knowledge of warehouse operations

Independent judgment at times in Warehouse Supervisor absence

Proficient with computers

Reliable attendance

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions

Single-double, clamp, and other specialized forklift attachment experience strongly preferred

Forklift certification

At least 3 years experience working in a warehouse environment

At least 2 years experience operating a forklift

High school diploma required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required for extended periods of time to stand, walk, sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch (by bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine), maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling. The employee may be required to pull (using upper extremities to exert force in order to haul or tug objects in a sustained motion) or remove inventory from shelves, lift up to 50 pounds (group lift up to 70 pounds), raise objects from lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position-to-position, climb ladders and use forklift machines. Must wear goggles, gloves and vest when required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in a non heated/air-conditioned warehouse throughout all seasons and is subjected to outside environmental conditions. Workers are required to adhere to strict safety regulations.
