Position Summary

The Warehouse & Inventory Lead is responsible for maintaining an organized, accurate, and controlled raw-material and purchased-parts warehouse. The position serves as the primary day-to-day owner of warehouse organization and inventory integrity, ensuring materials are properly identified, stored, located, counted, staged, and transacted within the company ERP system. This is a hands-on lead position with functional authority to reinforce established warehouse and inventory-control practices. The role investigates inventory discrepancies to root cause, reports findings, and obtains appropriate approval before inventory corrections are made. The position also supports receiving, material handling, and staging activities as workload and staffing needs require.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain an organized, clean, and controlled warehouse environment for raw materials and purchased parts.
• Establish and maintain designated storage locations, rack and bin identification, aisle organization, and clearly defined staging areas.
• Ensure materials are clearly identified and stored in assigned locations; correct or report misplaced, unidentified, excess, or improperly stored material.
• Consolidate partial quantities and maintain appropriate material-rotation practices, including FIFO where applicable.
• Maintain a high level of physical inventory accuracy and ensure inventory movements are properly recorded in the ERP system, including location transfers, returns, staging movements, and other applicable transactions.
• Establish and perform routine cycle counts and support periodic physical-inventory activities.
• Identify inventory discrepancies and investigate root cause before corrections are made, including review of receipts, transaction history, material movements, scrap, incorrect locations, production usage, and other potential causes.
• Document and report inventory-discrepancy findings to the Materials Supervisor and obtain required approval before making inventory adjustments or corrections.
• Recommend and support corrective actions intended to prevent recurring inventory discrepancies or warehouse-control issues.
• Assist with moving raw materials and parts into designated staging areas for transfer to Production; the position is not primarily responsible for final delivery of parts to Production locations.
• Support receiving activities during periods of high incoming volume, employee absence, or staffing shortages, including physical handling and system receipt of incoming materials when needed.
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other required material-handling equipment.
• Communicate and reinforce established expectations for how materials are received, identified, stored, moved, staged, counted, and recorded.
• Work with Production, Purchasing, Receiving, Engineering, Quality, and other functions as needed to resolve material, location, transaction, and inventory issues.
• As the role develops, may provide day-to-day work direction and task coordination to other warehouse personnel without initially having formal supervisory responsibility.
• Perform other related duties as assigned consistent with the purpose and level of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain consistent warehouse standards and material-location discipline.
• Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory-control principles, cycle counting, material handling, and manufacturing material flow.
• Ability to use an ERP or inventory-management system to research on-hand quantities, locations, receipts, transfers, adjustments, and transaction history.
• Ability to investigate inventory discrepancies methodically, distinguish symptoms from root causes, document findings, and communicate conclusions clearly.
• Ability to provide functional leadership and reinforce established practices with employees who interact with warehouse inventory without relying on formal supervisory authority.
• Ability to recognize when an issue requires escalation because of inventory, production, safety, quality, cost, or policy impact.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work across departments to resolve material and inventory issues.
• Ability to balance hands-on warehouse work with accurate computer-based inventory transactions and recordkeeping.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in warehousing, inventory control, logistics, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, material handling, manufacturing, or a related operational role preferred.
• Experience using an ERP or inventory-management system is preferred.
• Forklift and material-handling equipment experience preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain required company qualification or certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly works in a manufacturing and warehouse environment and is expected to spend significant time on the warehouse floor.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, count, organize, lift, and move raw materials and parts as required by the position.
• Must be able to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other applicable material-handling equipment.
• Must be able to perform computer-based inventory research, transactions, and documentation in addition to physical warehouse work.
• Must follow all applicable safety requirements and use required personal protective equipment.
