Job Description

Warehouse & Inventory Control Manager

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Warehouse & Inventory Control Manager to lead and improve the complete flow of material from receiving through warehouse operations and delivery to production.

This is not a role for someone who has simply managed an established warehouse. The successful candidate will have experience transforming underperforming warehouse and inventory operations, identifying root causes, implementing new processes, and creating sustainable operating discipline.

This leader will have responsibility for receiving, dock-to-stock performance, picking accuracy, inventory control, material staging, point-of-use replenishment, and ERP transaction accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead receiving, warehouse, picking, staging, and inventory-control operations.
  • Establish measurable standards for dock-to-stock time, picking accuracy, inventory accuracy, and material availability.
  • Improve warehouse layout, slotting, material locations, and overall material flow.
  • Develop standard work, visual management, KPIs, and daily accountability processes.
  • Improve picking accuracy and implement root-cause corrective actions for recurring errors.
  • Ensure kits and production materials are available when required.
  • Develop and manage a disciplined cycle-counting and ABC inventory program.
  • Investigate inventory variances and eliminate recurring root causes.
  • Ensure ERP transactions accurately reflect physical inventory.
  • Establish warehouse audit processes and drive corrective actions through completion.
  • Develop warehouse leads and future supervisors while building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in warehouse, inventory control, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience transforming or significantly improving an underperforming warehouse operation.
  • Strong experience with inventory accuracy, cycle counting, material flow, and warehouse controls.
  • Experience improving receiving, dock-to-stock, picking, staging, and production material availability.
  • Strong ERP/MRP experience and understanding of inventory transaction discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop KPIs, standard work, and measurable operating processes.
  • Proven experience leading and developing warehouse teams.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, assembly, automotive, or similar production environments.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience with warehouse layout, slotting, point-of-use replenishment, and material-flow optimization.

Leadership Profile

The successful candidate will be:

  • A hands-on, floor-focused leader
  • Strong at identifying root causes and fixing broken processes
  • Highly disciplined around inventory accuracy and ERP transactions
  • Data-driven and comfortable managing through KPIs
  • Skilled at developing people and creating accountability
  • Focused on building sustainable processes rather than relying on firefighting
