About the role

Responsible for coordinating activities to support the successful completion of orders. Plays a supporting role in the coordination of departments involved in delivering quality products in compliance with customer specifications and department/company policies and procedures. Performs related tasks from receiving/expediting, motor modifications & testing, preparation and shipment, as well as warehouse/inventory organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Have and maintain the ability to use and operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Receive items into the ERP system, after resolving any data omissions and discrepancies which prevent accurate processing. Maintain a filing system for goods receipts and physically place items in storage locations.
  • Physically receive items by unloading vehicles, accepting deliveries and forwarding documents to the New Product department.
  • Ability to read and understand internal and external requirements of purchase orders, packing slips and other documentation.
  • Package and prepare items for shipping. Create Bills of Lading and other shipping paperwork. Contact freight companies to coordinate logistics. Document condition via photos.
  • Coordinate pick-ups and deliveries with internal and external transport contacts.
  • Expedite and support activities related to items in process to ensure readiness for on time shipment.
  • Determine method of shipment when not specified by customer and arrange pick-up by transporter.
  • Computer proficiency with knowledge of Logistics systems (Portals), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems (D365 strongly preferred).
  • Work closely and clearly communicate with the other departments, including Mechanics, Machinists, Shipping/ Receiving, Sales, and Management.
  • General knowledge of electro-mechanical equipment. Proficiency in mechanical tasks, motor modifications, and testing.
  • Ability to operate specialized testing equipment and other equipment as needed.
  • Must have own tools, basic hand tools, wrenches, socket set, impact driver, drill and calipers.
  • Transport equipment and parts around department and between departments.
  • Maintain inventory of warehouse and shipping materials.
  • Perform specialized tasks as required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to act and work independently, adapt to change and have attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime at short notice as well as be on-call periodically.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • 3-5 years’ experience in related work environment
  • Certified forklift operator
