The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for planning, executing, & overseeing all activities connected with inventory control, effective safe handling, storage & transportation of all materials from point of arrival through to assembly of orders ready for dispatch in correct quantity, time & condition to ensure that factory operates at maximum efficiency. Liaise closely with immediate superiors, purchasers and relevant external parties.

A day in the life of a Warehouse Clerk

Resources (People and Forklifts)

  • Direct and manage the daily operations and ensure output based on daily volume
  • Direct and manage the re-assigning of resources with consultation of the warehouse manager, if required to increase daily output
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources, equipment and capacity to optimally handle receipts and dispatches.
  • The ability to deputize for other controllers or coordinators in the warehousing environment

Logistics

  • Ensuring deliveries are made on time (issues, receipt and dispatch) and of the right quality for raw, packaging, semi-finished, bulk and finished goods materials in an efficient and effective way.
  • Ensure document compliance and tracking (POD, NQMS, OBD, etc.)
  • Ensure pallets are maintained (Returns, Receipts, Stock Counts, Housekeeping) on site (3rd party pallets and Nestle pallets)

Stock Management

  • Ensure stock accuracy through the coordination of cycle counts and monthly stock counts
  • Participation in key quarterly stock counts
  • Maintain Warehousing Master Data for materials on SAP
  • Ensure defective stock (expired/damaged/blocked) is managed according to the standard and procedures.

HR Management

  • Shopfloor Timecard Management
  • Training & Development (including Individual Development Plans) People Management
  • Understanding the disciplinary and grievance procedure
  • Abides by the company policies and the disciplinary code

Administration

  • Creation of Purchase Requisition on SAP
  • Effective Implementation of procedures

Compliance

  • Conducting health checks on SAP
    Drive compliance with quality control systems and procedures through routine housekeeping checks within the warehouse.
  • Drive safety compliance to ensure a safe working environment through the 12 Life Saving rules and Site Safety
    Procedures
  • Ensure all mechanical equipment (E.g. forklift lifts, scales) is maintained and serviced as per the supplier specification or the agreed company standards

What will make you successful?

  • Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Economics, Finance or Equivalent
  • At least 1 year relevant and successful operational experience in a materials handling role in the warehouse.
  • Relevant operational experience at a factory level, in the following areas is beneficial:
  • Dispatch (Customer and Distribution Centre deliveries)
  • Raw Materials Receiving (Liquid Bulk, Raw and Packaging)
  • Inter-Factory Supply
  • Transportation
  • Issues to Production
  • Receipt for Production
  • Actively involved in NCE
  • Desirable to have experience as a team leader, SHE adherence, and/or Food Safety compliance.
  • Extensive SAP Knowledge in Materials Handling, ideally a MH / Production Superuser.
