Warehouse Assistant is an entry-level position designed to support both the Lead Mechanic and the Warehouse Manager in the day-to-day operations of our equipment shop and materials warehouse. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn the trades, takes pride in keeping a workspace organized, and is dependable and hardworking. No prior professional experience is required — we will provide on-the-job training. A willingness to follow direction, a basic understanding of tools, and a strong work ethic are the most important qualities we are looking for.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting the Lead Mechanic
- Hand tools, parts, and supplies to the mechanic during repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks under direct supervision, such as fluid top-offs, filter changes, and greasing/lubricating equipment.
- Clean and wash equipment, vehicles, and work areas before and after service.
- Help move and stage equipment or vehicles for scheduled maintenance.
- Assist with organizing the tool room — cleaning, sorting, and returning tools to their proper place.
- Dispose of used fluids, filters, and shop waste following proper procedures as directed.
- Run parts to and from suppliers or job sites as needed.
Supporting the Warehouse Manager
- Receive incoming deliveries — unload, count, and verify materials against purchase orders.
- Stock shelves and storage areas in an organized, labeled manner.
- Pull and stage materials or parts for job site crews as directed.
- Keep the warehouse clean, swept, and free of hazards at all times.
- Assist with routine inventory counts and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.
- Help organize and maintain storage racks, bins, and supply areas.
- Assist with loading outgoing deliveries and ensuring materials are properly secured.
General Shop & Yard Duties
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, yard, and warehouse environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate clearly with supervisors about task progress and any issues encountered.
- Complete any other support tasks as assigned by the Lead Mechanic or Warehouse Manager.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred; will consider candidates currently enrolled.
- No prior work experience required — entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Any hands-on experience with tools, vehicles, or equipment (personal, school, or volunteer) is a plus.
Skills & Attributes
- Basic familiarity with common hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchets, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills — ability to keep workspaces tidy and materials properly stored.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Reliable and punctual with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to stay on task and manage multiple responsibilities throughout the day.
- Good communication skills — comfortable asking questions and providing updates to supervisors.
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities over time.
Licenses
- Valid driver's license required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions including heat, cold, and occasional exposure to dust, noise, and fumes.
- Comfortable working in a shop and warehouse environment.
WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS
- Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
