Real people Recruitment is working with a  leading and trusted wholesale distributor of refrigeration & air conditioning equipment across Ireland and the UK to help them hire a warehouse operative, and trade counter person to join their busy team.

Job Title: Warehouse and Trade Counter Supervisor 

• Location: Ballybane Industrial Estate, Galway
• Contract: Full time, Permanent - 40 hours a week
• Working Hours: 8am to 17:00PM M/T/W/T/F
• Salary : €35,900 per year

 

 

The Trade Counter & Warehouse Operative plays a key role in ensuring smooth warehouse, trade counter, and delivery operations. This role requires a proactive approach to operational efficiency, exceptional customer service, and strict adherence to health & safety standards.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:

• Take responsibility for overseeing daily warehouse and trade counter operations.
• Receive, inspect, and dispatch goods efficiently, ensuring stock accuracy.
• Organise and prioritise workloads to meet customer deadlines and productivity targets.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised branch environment.

Customer Service & Sales Support:

• Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service at the trade counter.
• Support sales processes, assist with customer queries, and provide product guidance.
• Build strong, lasting relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Contribute to achieving branch sales and revenue targets.

Stock & Inventory Control:

• Monitor inventory levels to ensure stock availability meets customer demand.
• Assist in purchasing, returns management, and resolving supplier issues.
• Maintain accurate records of stock movements and discrepancies.

Health & Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Promote and enforce health and safety standards, including manual handling and forklift operations.

Driving & Delivery Duties:

• Safely deliver goods to customers in a timely manner.
• Plan and manage delivery routes efficiently to maximise operational productivity.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicle maintenance standards are met.

Administrative & Reporting Duties:

• Assist with documentation, invoicing queries, and updating inventory systems.
• Support reporting on branch performance, stock levels, and operational KPIs.

 
Requirements:

• Previous experience in a trade environment such as refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, or hardware wholesale.
• Proven experience in a senior warehouse/trade counter role.
• Strong operational knowledge of warehouse procedures, stock control, and order fulfilment.
• Full, clean B Driving Licence required.
• Manual Handling & Counterbalance Forklift Licence advantageous but not needed (Training can be provided)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Proficient IT skills with experience in inventory or ERP systems.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Good spoken and written English.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in HVAC/Refrigeration wholesale or distribution sales.
• Familiarity with energy-efficient or sustainable HVAC/R solutions.
• Experience in branch-level performance management or sales support.
