Warehouse and Inventory Specialist (Property & Stores Clerk)

Location: 22211 US Highway 19 N, Building 10, Clearwater, Florida 33765

Schedule: Four 10 hr. shifts Tuesday - Friday. ****Monday - Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM may also be an option.

Join the Pinellas County Public Works Department and play an important role in supporting the materials and resources that keep County operations running efficiently. This position supports various Public Works divisions by managing warehouse inventory, receiving, distribution, and storage of materials, tools, equipment, and safety products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Conduct inventories and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Warehouse Operations: Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse while overseeing the storage and handling of materials and equipment.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor inventory accuracy, quality, and replenishment needs.
  • Database Management: Maintain accurate inventory and materials records in applicable systems.
  • Procurement & Purchasing: Support purchasing and procurement activities to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Vendor Coordination: Communicate with vendors regarding materials, orders, and related needs.
  • Facility Support: Travel throughout Pinellas County to monitor materials stored at Public Works facilities and stockyards.
  • Accuracy & Reliability: Complete work accurately, dependably, and within required timeframes.

What Would You Do?

  • Issues materials and equipment in accordance with established procedures, and monitors stock levels for varying section(s).
  • Maintains appropriate stock levels through inventory use analysis and adherence to min/max policies.
  • Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other light equipment to assist in the storage and delivery of materials, supplies, and parts.
  • Maintains a computerized inventory control system and monitors records for discrepancies.
  • Picks-up and delivers various materials and equipment, including the delivery of emergency supplies to staff in the field.
  • Interfaces with suppliers regarding deliveries.
  • Receives incoming items, stores them in proper locations and updates bin locations as needed.
  • Performs required cycle counts and participates in all physical inventories.
  • Attends required safety and training per guidelines.
  • Oversees the general housekeeping of the main ERB warehouse and other remote facilities
  • Prepares requisitions for all needed materials to minimize stock-outs.
  • Notifies and/or delivers items to various departments.
  • Coordinates property control and disposal activities.
  • Performs other related work as assigned or required.

What Do You Need To Have?

  • High School diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), and two (2) years of experience in shipping, receiving, storekeeping, purchasing, accounting, or related field to include basic administrative and office support experience in the use of personal computers and general office tasks; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack and/or other motorized equipment (job specific training will be provided).
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.

Highly Desirable:

  • Microsoft Office: Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Microsoft Teams: Experience using Teams and conducting virtual meetings.
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro: Working knowledge of form fields, document merging, saving documents, and OCR text recognition.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software and systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organization: Ability to multitask, adapt, prioritize, and manage competing deadlines.
  • Enterprise Asset Management: Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management systems.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service skills and a professional, dependable approach.
  • Time Management: Strong time management and organizational skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of warehousing methods, safety precautions and procedures used in the receipt, inventory, storage and distribution of materials.
  • Knowledge of regulations and procedures affecting inventory and inventory control records.
  • Ability to use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling in the preparation of written records, emails, and/or other documents to ensure information is clearly presented and understood by others.
  • Knowledge of different units of measurement (e.g., cubic yards, tons) for checking, counting, shipping, and tracking material.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to endure long periods of standing and walking and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Ability to provide written information to supervisors and co-workers to keep open lines of communication.
  • Understanding of the procurement and purchasing process.
  • Knowledge of purchasing, materials requisitioning.
  • Ability to determine the quantity and quality of goods received against prescribed specifications.
  • Ability to learn and be proficient in new computer applications and software.
