Description of Work

This position is located at Franklin Correctional Center (Franklin CC) located in Bunn, NC, Franklin County. Franklin CC has the Correction Enterprises Sign plant.

  • Responsible for administering established policies and procedures for the daily operation of a medium custody correctional facility, which includes:

Custody

Programs

Food service

Administration (human resources and fiscal)

Maintenance

  • Responsible for the overall planning, directing, and management of these services as well as overseeing the management of the offender population at Franklin CC.
  • Sets goals and priorities for each component within the prison and makes modifications as needed.
  • May develop internal policies and guidelines.
  • Directly involved with hiring, disciplining, coaching and training employees.
  • Responsible for 175 full-time employees as well as contractual employees and up to 480 male offenders.
  • This is inclusive of providing coordination and direction to line staff in all areas of the prison.
  • Reports directly to the Assistant Region Director in the Central Region.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade Range: $67,122.00 - $117,465.00

The Agency has standardized Warden salaries. Selected applicant starting salary at this location will be $107,500.00.

About The Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Education Equivalency Verification

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of supervisory, administrative, or consultative experience in corrections or related work;

Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
