Job Description

The Team

The permanent ward clerk position within the LGH Pool offers the opportunity to work across various departments within Launceston General Hospital, gaining valuable skills and experience in multiple areas while maintaining a permanent roster and entitlements. This position is supported by the Pool Office team in regard to onboarding, ongoing orientation and career support. As a permanent pool ward clerk you will be working with a number of teams across the LGH on a day-by-day basis.

The Role

The role would suit someone who enjoys variety and works well under the pressure of changing priorities and has.

  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively interact with members of the public and team members from various health related disciplines.
  • Well-developed time management skills and the demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team; prioritise workloads; and apply flexibility, speed and accuracy whilst working in a busy and demanding public environment with time critical responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities in contemporary clerical and administrative support including rapid and accurate data entry skills, a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite packages and knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of, the Launceston General Hospital’s health information systems.

Details of appointment

  • Permanent part time, day worker position, working 74 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join us.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$68,854 to $73,947 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance withPublic Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025

Eligibility

  • Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable, and as determined by individual position requirements)

  • Previous experience working within a health care environment
