This role suits an experienced, safety focused and reliable bus driver with experience is aged care and dementia, looking for full-time work with a genuine passion for caring for older people.
• Hourly rate of $33.55 ($66,528 annually plus leave entitlements + Super)
• Monthly RDO
• Salary packaging & other benefits available

What you will be doing:

• Safely transport clients from home to the Day Centre, taking clients on bus outings, club lunches, ensuring comfort and dignity.
• Assisting clients with mobility support when boarding and disembarking
• Loading and unloading clients’ mobility equipment on the bus with care.
• Conduct daily safety checks, keep vehicle logs and report any defects to the manager
• Complete daily upkeep and cleanliness of the vehicle.
• Support the therapy team with activities as required and help create a warm, inclusive environment.

What we are looking for:

• Current LR or above licence and a confident, safe and reliable bus driver
• A genuine commitment to supporting frail older people including those with dementia
• Good communication, patience and a team-first attitude
• A strong focus on safety and commitment to WHS practices
• A strong focus on customer service and teamwork

All Category A NSW Health workers are required to have received an annual seasonal Influenza vaccination or have an approved medical contraindication certificate. COVID-19 vaccinations are strongly recommended for all NSW Health workers.

Selection Criteria:

1. Current NSW Driving License Class LR or above
2. Previous experience driving 22-seater buses (i.e. Toyota Coaster bus)
3. Previous experience transporting elderly people & transporting people on wheelchairs (desirable).
4. Previous experience of working with people with dementia (desirable).
5. Demonstrated ability to organise bus routes to maximise efficiency.
6. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
7. Proven interpersonal, computer, written, and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate across all levels and departments both within War Memorial Hospital, Uniting and with external stakeholders.
8. Knowledge of and understanding of Work Health Safety & Manual Handling principles.

War Memorial Hospital (WMH) is a 3rd Schedule Aged Rehabilitation hospital, situated in Waverley, owned and operated by Uniting and part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). Services are comprised of 24-hour inpatient care, Monday to Friday outpatient departments, iREAP Day Rehabilitation program, several specialist community teams inclusive of Transitional Aged Care, Geriatric Flying Squad, Young Onset Dementia, Day Centre Program, 24-hour accommodation service for regional guests and the full range of hospital support services. It is set within beautiful tranquil grounds and is a well-supported team environment.
