The Broadway YMCA is seeking a Walking Club Coach who will be responsible for leading safe,
engaging, and inclusive walking experiences that promote physical activity,
healthy lifestyles, and overall well-being. The Walking Club Coach will lead scheduled
outdoor walks, support participant engagement, and create a welcoming
environment where participants of varying fitness levels and abilities can
participate comfortably and safely, helping to promote good health and wellness
beyond the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead scheduled outdoor walking sessions using safe, accessible, and appropriately paced routes that accommodate the needs and abilities of participants.
  • Create a welcoming, comfortable, and inclusive environment that encourages participation, connection, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Be outdoors (weather permitting) creating a comfortable and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Demonstrate strong service and hospitality with all constituents including, but not limited to, program participants.
  • Collaborate with supervisor to develop program objectives and goals for each program session.
  • Schedule biweekly outdoor walks with safe and planned routes.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant registration, attendance, and required waivers and documentation.
  • Notify supervisor of all injuries and submit incident reports.
  • Embody the YMCA Core Values.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience leading or participating in
    walking, fitness, recreation, or similar group activities preferred.
  • Knowledge of local walking area.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with participants of varying ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
  • Adult CPR and First Aid certifications.
