Job Description

We absolutely want people who genuinely love dogs to apply.
But loving dogs alone is not enough for success in this role.

The people who tend to succeed here usually have MOST (ideally ALL) of the following traits:

  1. You are extremely reliable If you say you’ll be somewhere, people do not wonder whether you’ll actually show up.
  2. You do not shut down when things get inconvenient. Traffic, schedule pressure, unexpected messes, dog behavior issues, and last-minute curveballs are part of real pet care.
  3. You are genuinely comfortable driving AND working outdoors in all typical Pacific Northwest conditions Rain. Cold. Dark winter mornings. Heavy downpours. Occasional snow. Slower roads. Wet gear. Muddy paws. Dogs still need care.
  4. You are physically tough Walking up to 15 miles per day, handling strong dogs, getting in and out of the vehicle repeatedly, bending, cleaning, and staying active all day feels manageable—not miserable.
  5. You make sound judgment calls without constant supervision. You can assess situations, think critically, and make practical decisions instead of freezing, panicking, or needing someone else to solve every problem.
  6. You are highly punctual. Time-sensitive client care means “a few minutes late” can create a ripple effect.
  7. You are comfortable with the unglamorous side of animal care. Accidents, diarrhea, vomiting, muddy paws, occasional blood, barking, strong odors, and imperfect situations come with the territory.
  8. You are emotionally steady. Dogs do best with calm, confident handlers—not people who become easily flustered.
  9. You work well independently. Much of the day involves managing real responsibility without someone standing beside you.
  10. You are looking for steady, long-term work—not a short-term stopgap or casual side gig.

This role tends to be rewarding for people wired this way—and frustrating for those who aren’t.

How the Role Works

  1. Dog Walking Routes (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM): You’ll independently manage established walking routes for recurring clients, entering client homes, safely handling dogs in public, staying on schedule, and making real-time judgment calls involving behavior, health observations, and safety.
  2. Dog Daycare Attendant (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM): Back at Four-Legged Fun Zone, you’ll help supervise structured daycare groups of approximately 10–15 dogs. That means reading body language, maintaining calm group dynamics, stepping in when behavior needs redirection, and helping keep the environment safe, clean, and well-managed.

Requirements

  • Living within approximately 20 minutes of 6628 Evergreen Way, Everett during realistic weekday morning traffic
  • Valid driver’s license + reliable insured personal vehicle
  • At least 12 consecutive months at one job within the past 3 years
  • Ability to safely drive in all typical Pacific Northwest weather conditions
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Walking up to 15 miles per day
  • Standing/walking for extended periods
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Full commitment to a fixed Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM schedule
  • Minimum 6-month commitment (not seasonal / temporary)
  • Ability to pass a federal background check

If this description sounds energizing rather than intimidating—and you take pride in reliability, sound judgment, and doing demanding work well—we encourage you to apply.

About Tailored Pet Services

At TAILored Pet Services LLC, we personally understand that pets are important family members. They hold a special a place in our hearts and in some cases become our children. We also realize that finding the right individual to take care of their emotional and physical needs is an important decision.

We promise your pets will always receive one-on-one attention, be watched by a consistent person and loved like our own dogs. You can leave your pets in the comfort of their own home knowing they will receive the same love and attention you provide.

Dog Care Services:

• Dog Walking: Sometimes it just isn't possible to walk our furry friends. My team/I will exercise your dog(s) so you find a cheerful and calm friend when you return. Whether your dog needs a leisurely stroll, brisk walk, or fast jog, these customized visits will happen regardless of the Pacific Northwest weather.

• In-home boarding: In-home boarding is very different from a traditional kennel because only 1-2 dogs from the same household stay with us at one time to ensure a personalized experience. We encourage our furry guests to relax/nap on the couches and utilize the floor for playtime. On warm days, we spend time in the fenced back yard so they can enjoy the outdoors. At bedtime, your dogs can to snuggle on the master bed or sleep in a dog bed on the floor like they would at home.

• Overnight Pet Sitting: We have a slumber party in your home with your pets as the guest of honor so they will remain in their own environment and maintain their normal routine. Our overnight services include dinner/evening potty break, staying overnight (including sleeping with your pet if that is part of the routine), breakfast/morning potty visit and other home-care tasks.

Clients love and recommend TPS. If you’d like to be put directly in touch with some of them, contact us and we’d be happy to connect you!
