Walk-In Clinics - Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) Weekend Option (WEO) 60% -(26002913)

The Department of Family Medicine with The University of Iowa Health Care Walk-In Clinics is seeking a Weekend Option (WEO) 60% (24 hours a week) Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP) to support our Iowa City (Corridor) and Quad Cities QuickCare/Urgent Care locations The ARNP will perform direct patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic services within our Walk-in Clinics. The ARNP will exercise autonomy in medical decision making and services provided. The ARNP will also assist in educating healthcare students, as they rotate through the respective departments and divisions and will assist in research endeavors as appropriate.

UI Health Care Walk-in Clinics provide care to try to save our patients a trip to the emergency room. We’re open evenings, weekends, and even some holidays. Our clinics are responsible for assessing a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric and ensures patient care standards are met. Walk In Clinics provides access to additional care options not normally found at your traditional walk-in clinic including X-rays, IV fluids, and stitches. This position is part of a dynamic and fast paced environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary teams to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients. We have several locations throughout the Iowa City/Corridor area and the Quad Cities so that our patients are able to find a convenient location near them. This position reports to the Medical Director within the UI Health Care Walk In Clinics and Lead APP within UI Health Care Walk In Clinics.

This position will support both Iowa City/Corridor sites as well as Quad Cities clinical sites.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical care and management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided in the Walk-In Clinics. Will rotate to different Walk-in Clinics and also utilize online telehealth platforms.
  • Function independently to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for populations with urgent care needs.
  • Assess, diagnose and treat medical or surgical problems, as well as perform therapeutic procedures such as suturing and care of wounds, removal of foreign bodies, ear and eye irrigation.
  • Assist in arranging for continued care such as, but not limited to: transfer to Emergency Treatment Center or follow up with primary care provider or specialty consultations as needed.

Percent of Time: 60% (24 hours per week)

Schedule: Weekend Option (WEO) / Work hours will be accomplished between Friday 3:00 PM thru Sunday 7:30PM

Locations: Iowa City, IA and surrounding clinic locations including Corridor and Quad Cities areas (as needed)

Salary: $52,579.20 - $94,977.60 ( based on years of experience)

Qualifications

Position Qualifications

Education Required:

ARNP: Master's degree is required. A Master's degree in Nursing is preferred. If Master's degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Current board certification (FNP) in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.
  • Current license to practice as an ARNP in state of Iowa.
  • Minimum 6 months experience as an ARNP.
  • Demonstrated experience in area of clinical practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage acutely ill patient population (of all ages) within a highly functioning unit/department.
  • Proved capacity to function with a high degree of autonomy while actively collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.
  • Current valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy Standards.
  • Availability to provide support at other clinical locations based on clinical hours/needs.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certification (obtained within first 6 months of employment).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of acute patient care ARNP experience within Emergency Department, Urgent Care and/or Walk-In Clinic area(s), or Family Medicine.

  • Some knowledge of University policies and procedures.
  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Comfortable with technology and leveraging video, or the desire to learn.
