Job Description

Position Summary:

To courteously and professionally serve all Residents and their guests in the dining room, take-out and home delivery. Maintain a neat and orderly dining room. Keeps current on all local and state codes pertaining to food preparation, sanitation and storage and food allergens. Informs culinary management of food needs and residents likes and dislikes. Takes ownership of Resident satisfaction for service. Follows HSL Cultural Beliefs.

  • Working knowledge of all serving and bussing functions
  • Willingness to learn the art of food serving
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully with Residents, Staff and Management
  • Capable of effectively handling a full section of tables according to steps of service
  • Maintain a genuine interest in geriatric care and follow HSL Cultural Beliefs

Position Responsibilities:

  • Presets tables and follows serving and cleaning procedures according to Culinary Services manual
  • Be familiar and conversant with the daily food and dessert menus
  • Be professional and hospitable to Residents at all times
  • Complete resident checks accurately and thoroughly
  • Maintain dining room and work area, neat and orderly at all times
  • Follow daily sanitation cleaning schedules
  • Be alert to the likes and dislikes of Residents when serving food and make the host/hostess promptly aware of any problem
  • Attend in-service training sessions with co-workers to keep abreast of current knowledge in the field
  • Cooperate and coordinate work activities with co-workers to ensure a smoothly run department
  • Performs assigned job related duties or special projects assigned by the Host/Hostess or Dining Room Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Able to work flexible hours and days, including weekends and holidays
  • Minimum of six months experience as a bus staff at Orchard Cove or in an upscale hotel or restaurant
  • Ability to pass a CORI background check and physical exam including TB test
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in verbal or written form

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and to walk short distances
  • Frequent stooping, reaching and lifting
  • Works in a clean, well lighted and ventilated environment
  • Possible work hazards include: cuts, burns, slips and falls
  • Follow uniform policy and good personal hygiene
