The Gilbert lab is in search of a recent graduate with a bachelor's degree in science or a related field that has experience in a biochemistry lab. Duties will include making site-directed mutations, kinetics with a stopped-flow instrument, and analysis of kinetic data. Other duties include keeping good notes of experiments, training and helping others with protocols, and presenting work at lab meetings.
Duties Include:
50% Performing stopped-flow kinetic experiments of plant, animal, and human lipoxygenase enzymes. Employee will need to be able to analyze the data and trouble shoot any issues. The employee will also need to train undergraduates in these methods.
30% Making site-directed mutants of proteins by altering plasmid DNA. Needs to also verify mutations by sequencing and organize also constructs made. The employee will also need to train undergraduates in these methods.
20% The employee will need to record and analyze data. Also will need to have excellent record-keeping in lab notebooks and backed up in cloud services at LSU such as BOX. Finally, results will need to be shared at lab meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Science or related field. 1 year experience working in a biochemistry lab that does enzyme kinetics and protein engineering.
Advanced in Micropipetting job competencies.
Proficient in Stopped-flow kinetics and Site-directed mutagenesis job competencies.
Beginner in Graphpad Prism and Excel job competencies.
