Employment Status: Part-Time Student Employment
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week (Primary shifts include weekday evenings and Saturdays between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
The Wade Park Community Engagement Center (WPCEC) Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for guests, faculty, and community members utilizing the Engagement Center. This position is essential to fostering a welcoming environment that bridges Case Western Reserve University with the surrounding neighborhood. The Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations of the center during reservation hours, ensuring that all events run smoothly from setup to breakdown. This role is ideal for a student who is self-motivated, organized, and passionate about community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Center Operations & Customer Service
- Staff the front desk during operational hours, welcoming guests and verifying reservations.
- Serve as the on-site liaison for event hosts, answering questions and troubleshooting issues in real-time.
- Maintain a professional and inviting atmosphere in the Center’s common areas and meeting spaces.
- Open and close the facility securely, ensuring all protocols are followed at the beginning and end of shifts.
2. Event Setup & Facilities Management
- Review daily reservation schedules to anticipate setup requirements.
- Physically configure meeting rooms by moving and arranging tables and chairs according to customer requests (e.g., lecture style, banquet style, hollow square).
- Reset rooms to their standard configuration immediately after an event concludes.
- Ensure spaces are clean and presentable before and after usage.
3. Audio/Visual (A/V) Support
- Provide technical support to customers using the Center’s A/V equipment.
- Assist with connecting laptops to projectors/screens, setting up microphones, and ensuring audio levels are appropriate.
- Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues (HDMI, USB, Wi-Fi) during events.
4. Reservation System Management
- Utilize the LibCal reservation system to view bookings, check room availability, and manage daily schedules.
- Assist users with understanding the reservation process and usage policies.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Student Status: Must be currently enrolled as a student at Case Western Reserve University in good academic standing.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift, move, and arrange furniture (tables and chairs) weighing up to 25–50 lbs repeatedly.
- Availability: Must be available to work flexible hours, specifically weekday evenings and Saturdays.
Preferred Skills:
- Technical Aptitude: Comfort with A/V equipment (projectors, sound systems) and willingness to learn the LibCal software platform.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and a customer-service-oriented mindset.
- Reliability: Punctuality and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Hospitable: Able to be welcoming and friendly to all people.
