Position Type: Full TimePurpose:
The VP SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy ensures FinWise’s compliance with all SEC reporting requirements for the Company including the annual Form 10-K and Proxy Statements and quarterly 10-Qs and press releases, periodic filings on Form 8-K, and filings related to mergers and acquisitions and capital markets activities. In addition, the role is responsible for technical accounting research to ensure proper accounting for new and continuing products and activities, implementation of new accounting standards relevant to the company, and reviewing proposed contracts for provisions that may give rise to accounting issues or other matters.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for SEC reporting (Form 10-K, 10-Q, quarterly earnings releases on form 8-K, other 8-K filings, Form 4s for directors and officers, proxy statement, and other filings in support of M&A and capital markets activities.) Ensure reports are filed in a timely manner and that filings and documentation comply with company policies, SEC, regulatory and GAAP reporting guidelines.
- Develops and maintains supporting documents for all financial disclosures contained within the various filings.
- Implements new accounting policies in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements and develops appropriate disclosures.
- Reviews draft contracts related to new customers and products to identify potential accounting issues and recommends changes as needed to facilitate appropriate accounting.
- Oversees and maintains revenue recognition practices, loss reserving, and all other accounting policies throughout the Bank.
- Ensures proper accounting and disclosures for the Company’s share-based compensation plans including the Long-Term Incentive Plan.
- Conducts financial presentations and communications with the Audit Committee.
- Responsible for oversight of, and facilitating, external auditors in conducting their quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
- Prepares/provides schedules, checklists, and analyses as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert knowledge of US GAAP and SEC financial accounting, reporting, and disclosure requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with intermediate/advanced skill in Excel.
- Proficiency in public reporting software (i.e., Workiva).
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

- Excellent analytical skills.

- Knowledge of CECL.
- Ability to collaborate with other departments throughout the Bank.
- Strong leadership/supervisory skills.
- Great problem resolution skills.
- Prior leadership experience.

Preferred Education /

Experience:
- 4-year College Degree required in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.
- 7 years’ experience in public accounting or with a publicly traded company, preferably a bank or financial service company.
- At least 2 years of SEC reporting and accounting policy experience required.
Certifications:
- Certified Public Accountant. Master’s Degree in Accounting or MBA is preferred.
Minimum Essential Requirements:
- Sit or stand at a computer for extended periods of time and look at a computer screen for several hours a day.
- Work at an assigned FinWise office location.
- Communicate with others in person, on the phone, virtual meetings, and email.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Lift 20 lbs.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Work overtime as assigned.
- Travel overnight as required.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Driving during workday.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
