We are searching for the best talent for a VP, Robotics Instrumentation and New Growth to be based in Cincinnati, OH.
Purpose:
The VP, Robotics Instrumentation and New Growth leads a team of ~170 engineers responsible for research and development of Instruments and Accessories across the OTTAVA surgical robotics platform and will be responsible for the innovation strategy in support of new growth areas across Surgery for the Surgery R&D team. The Vice President is responsible for building technical capabilities and influencing OTTAVA’s technical and financial results through a sharing of technical expertise, as well as developing a technology pipeline through comprehensive external assessments and diligence processes. At this level, the position has a direct contribution to the development of business strategies and is responsible for leading and managing multiple teams of professionals. The Vice President is responsible for ensuring product development teams implement, support & deliver business results consistent with the OTTAVA business strategy and the broader Surgery business strategy.
You will be responsible for:
Design and implement strategies to deliver highly differentiated portfolio of instruments and accessories for the soft-tissue surgical robotics portfolio
Act as technology expert in evaluation of inorganic business development opportunities for both OTTAVA and the Surgery business
Successfully manage multiple complex product development timelines and interdependencies – must be able to balance quality/safety with need to deliver financially viable products to market
Partner with Surgery Strategy Commercial Leaders (Presidents and VPs) to develop a technical strategy for new growth platforms and adjacencies within the Surgery business.
Ability to play a strategic role in technology pipeline convergence across Surgery
Partner with technical leaders across Surgery to develop build vs buy strategies for high growth opportunities
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to develop comprehensive development plans to input into deal models for new opportunities
Work seamlessly with executives in commercial, supply chain, quality, finance and other functions to bring innovation to the market
Lead and develop a world-class instrumentation team, honing a culture of innovation and ensuring core design and development competencies are in place
Manage team leaders throughout product development cycle, balancing the flow of resources among projects & maintain project priorities.
Maintain matrixed accountability across Surgery R&D leadership teams (core and robotic)
Qualifications / Requirements:
A minimum of BS in engineering, mechanical or electrical or related field, required.
MS or PhD in Engineering Discipline preferred
A minimum of 15+ years’ experience in development or manufacturing of complex products in a regulated environment required
Medical Technology experience in both capital and consumable products preferred
Track record of successfully bringing products from concept to market on schedule & within budget.
Experience being accountable for end-to-end Research and Development processes required
Well-developed business acumen with a strong understanding of financial and business implications of strategy required; Ability to leverage this knowledge to position innovation to create significant, sustained enterprise value required
Demonstrated track record of partnering with business development (technology evaluation, acquisitions, integrations, etc.) required
Strategic thinking with the ability to see the big picture and provide vision and pathway to mobilize teams through change and uncharted situations while maintaining alignment with strategic priorities
Demonstrated ability to balance schedule, cost and quality required
Demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire and influence others across an enterprise to achieve results required
Demonstrated record of strong technical skills required to assess new technologies and synergies with current pipeline
Courage to be the strong voice, communicate difficult news, navigate trade-offs and make difficult decisions
Demonstrated ability to be an objective, fact-based decision maker
Demonstrated ability to assess technology feasibility for introduction into more complex programs and roadmaps
Domestic and international travel is required up to 30% of the time

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$218,000.00 - $401,350.00

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
