Job Description

The Relationship Manager is responsible for originating, developing, and managing relationships with commercial clients while delivering exceptional client service and achieving growth objectives. Serving as a trusted advisor to business owners, this individual provides customized banking solutions, including commercial lending, deposit products, treasury management services, and cash management solutions. The Relationship Manager is accountable for driving new business development, growing loans and deposits, deepening existing client relationships, and partnering across Servbank's lines of business to deliver a comprehensive and seamless client experience. Success in this role requires a strong combination of sales acumen, credit expertise, relationship management skills, and active engagement within the local business community, along with the ability to identify opportunities, provide strategic financial guidance, and foster long-term client relationships that contribute to the bank's growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Relationship Growth

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy to acquire new commercial relationships.
  • Generate new loans, deposits, and treasury management opportunities through prospecting, referrals, networking, and community involvement.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of referral sources, including attorneys, accountants, commercial real estate professionals, and business consultants.
  • Conduct regular client meetings to understand business objectives and identify opportunities to provide financial solutions.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients and prospects.

Portfolio Management

  • Manage and expand a portfolio of commercial relationships.
  • Conduct periodic relationship reviews to assess client needs, identify growth opportunities, and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Retain and deepen client relationships through proactive service and ongoing consultative engagement.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and profitability to achieve established goals.

Commercial Lending

  • Structure, originate, and manage commercial credit opportunities including lines of credit, term loans, owner-occupied real estate financing, and other commercial lending products.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and business performance metrics.
  • Prepare and present credit recommendations in accordance with Servbank's lending policies and risk management standards.
  • Partner closely with Credit Administration and Underwriting teams throughout the loan approval process.
  • Maintain strong portfolio credit quality through ongoing monitoring and risk assessment.

Deposits & Treasury Management

  • Drive deposit growth and expand primary banking relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to deliver treasury management, payments, cash management, and liquidity solutions that improve client operating efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Treasury Management partners to develop customized solutions for clients.
  • Promote operational and treasury services that support long-term relationship retention.

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Work closely with Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, Mortgage Banking, and other business units to provide integrated solutions.
  • Represent Servbank at networking events, industry associations, and community organizations.
  • Contribute to a high-performance, client-focused sales culture.

Risk & Compliance

  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements, bank policies, and compliance standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of client files and relationship records.
  • Proactively identify and address potential credit, operational, and reputational risks.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of banking regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Business Banking, Commercial Banking, or Relationship Management.
  • Proven success developing new commercial relationships and generating loan and deposit growth.
  • Experience with commercial credit analysis and financial statement review.
  • Strong understanding of commercial banking products, treasury management services, and commercial lending.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred

  • 7+ years of banking relationship management experience.
  • Formal commercial credit training.
  • Existing network of business and professional referral partners.
  • Experience serving professional service firms, law firms, real estate-related businesses, title agencies, escrow companies, and closely held businesses.
  • Knowledge of SBA lending and owner-occupied real estate financing.
